value for money
This is a first class camera at a very good price. Pocket-size cameras are fine and work well but if you have large hands and long fingers (like most men) a camera like the FZ82 is perfect.

Complicated at First Sight
Compact, light and easy to hold. A little flimsy, but I think it is strong enough for purpose. Very complicated at first sight. Become easier with use of course. A comprehensive instruction manual, but the English translation could be better. The manual itself is far too small and it often requires a magnifying glass to read.

Pleasantly, genuinely surprised!
I had a p900, I sold it on, and always regretted it, but this little beauty more than compares to that camera (apart from the longer zoom range obviously), with it's added features; like 4k video and RAW capture. It's also a lot lighter than the Nikon super zooms, making it great for travelling. I've already gotten some fantastic images with this great little camera, it's NOT dslr quality, but it's not meant to be! Yet it is capable of producing GREAT images and video. One major upgrade from the p900, or the previous iteration of this model, is the viewfinder. I haven't found an evf on any camera that I thought was really good, until now, it's amazing; large, beautifully clear, and a joy to use, the rear screen, although non-articulating it's also, bright, clear and sharp. These features alone for me make this an excellent buy. There IS a learning curve, especially for beginners,, but it's really worth the effort learning all it's amazing functions. I Highly recommend the book (available here) and YT videos from Mr. Graham Houghton; the 'master' of this model of camera (imo).

Extraordinarily complicated to get good photos when zooming.
My Panasonic DMC FZ 333 finally gave up the ghost and sadly it is no longer made, so I searched for a replacement. Seduced by the 1200 zoom facility, more with digital zoom, I bought this camera. It proved very difficult to get any decent images when using the zoom and even without extending the zoom I felt the quality of the images was not as good as the FZ 333. Of course, with a telephoto lens of this range you’ll need a tripod most of the time but with the 600mm facility of the FZ 333 I rarely, if ever, used a tripod. There are several videos on YouTube to help you to make the most of the FZ82D but after watching two or three I felt that I was going to have to put more time into learning how to use the camera than in using it. Of course, I understand other purchasers can say, “You’re the dummy, not the camera,” but even one of the people creating the videos implied that the camera is overly complicated. I have returned it and asked for a refund and will try to get my FZ 333 repaired.

Great value and performance
Excellent quality, great value for the money. Performs as well as my DSLR but don’t have to carry all the extra gear.

Great camera with fab zoom
Bought this to replace my old camera and it arrived on time. I was very excited to find it had a 122 x zoom, perfect for me. Picture quality is great. The one BIG negative, hence 4* rating, is that it doesn't come with a charging cable and uploading cable....so frustrating. Contacted amazon who advised me of a suitable cable to do both, it arrived but didn't fit and had to be returned... I then found a 2nd cable supposedly suitable but nope that didn't work either. Contacted Panasonic direct who were polite and apologised for this issue but didn't fully answer my issue for a cable to upload pictures, but did offer an option for a charger...spoke to hubby after getting so frustrated and he came and sorted it in 5mins...my hero. If you have a mac book pro like me....your cable for the laptop fits the camera and so solved my dilemma....why couldn't Panasonic put that in their camera booklet.....anyway hope this helps someone else....now I can use my camera and be happy 😊
