My love-hate relationship with the "Cocoa" shampoo!
I have a love-hate relationship with this product - and I wish I had a picture to demonstrate why. I originally bought this shampoo because I was unable to get to my salon to get my color re-touched. In many ways, I was hoping this shampoo would have the "power" to neutralize my horrid gray roots, but that would be more "permanent", and that's not what this is. The reason I purchased the "Cocoa" color was because my hair is colored this sort of brownish-mahogany color (about a level 6), and weaved in and at the bottom is blonde, perhaps about a level 9. I was curious what this shampoo would do to the blonde at the bottom half - and the results were interesting!Since my hair has some red shades, I did not mind that this shampoo/color brought out more red tones. It did "color" the blonde at the bottom, and made it a sort of almond color, like a Jennifer Lopez almond hair color. It doesn't exactly wash out the next day, which means I didn't have to use it the next day unless I wanted to intensify the color. And, if I wanted my blonde back, I could just use a strong sulfated shampoo for a couple of days and it would be mostly gone. It did "mute" the gray, but since it is temporary, there is no way it can do more than that, which we all know that, right?!So, I love that it can intensify and refresh color, but hate that it is drying. I love that it can neutralize my gray roots, but sort of hate that it doesn't wash out all the way the next day. However, I could really use this to my advantage if I wanted to not use the shampoo except for twice a week or so (which I only use it to refresh the color), but it's just a little bit more permanent than what I would like. Again, nothing that can't be handled with a strong shampoo.Overall, I really do like the color of this shampoo. I understand why some "complain" about the red tones because it definitely gives red tones (and I think it even says this in the description). However, I like the red tones, so they aren't an issue for me at all. I don't even mind what it does to the blonde to be honest. I hope this review helps someone make a good purchase decision!

Great shampoo
This is a great shampoo. I am almost 53 and am using this product to tide me over until I have to really die my hair. I use it every washing and try to leave it in my hair while I complete my shower, then rinse it out. I have medium to dark brown hair and this color works great. I tried the next darker color and it did not work as well for me. This product also adds great body to my hair. I do have to use another hair product called "tween time" just around the bang line roots where I am the most gray.

Wonderful product!
I used to have med. brown colored hair.. Now, in its natural state it is mousey brown with a lot of grey in its natural state. Who wants that? I have my hair professionally colored and it looks very nice, rich, and shiny for about 3 weeks . Then, I turn to Tressa Watercolors shampoo to bring it back to life and cover the roots until my next appointment. My hairdresser told me my color really holds and still looks shiny..... Then I confessed my secret. (She was impressed!)

The Pits
I'm not sure if it's just this bottle, but this shampoo pours and handles like water, meaning you'll waste a lot and there's a greater possibility the shampoo will get into your eyes & will simply hit the tub, meaning you could slip. I've never used a shampoo with such poor consistency. It also stain the tub & tile if you aren't careful to wash every little bit away. It wasn't drying on my hair, but I did a hair mask after using the shampoo. Lastly, this color is extremely red. Tressa says: "Use on Light to Medium Brown hair; Refreshes and maintains rich, natural medium brown shades while eliminating the retouch look." No mention of red, but it's loaded with red. I'm going back to Viral.

Super runny - Makes a huge mess
So far I haven't noticed much of a difference on my hair but this is the first time I've used a color enhancing shampoo. The characteristic that make me dislike this product is how runny it is. It comes out of the bottle with the consistency of water so it's difficult to "lather" as the directions suggest. Also, because of it's color enhancing properties the runniness just makes it so the stuff gets EVERYWHERE and make a huge mess in my shower that I have to clean up every time I shampoo. I 've used it three times and that will be enough for me.

This is a lifesaver!
Fabulous product. My stylist went a little too wild on my color. Is was way too light. This shampoo has darkened my hair to just the right shade. I leave it on for 5-15 minutes, depending on the level of color I need and it gives me great results. The water will have a reddish tint when you wash it out, but it's definitely a medium brown. The red highlights in my hair were hot pink when I left the salon!

Great find
My hair has been lightened several shades from my natural color. I want to blend the lighter hair with new growth and try to lighten it less often. So far, this method is adding just enough shading to notice that this should work as intended over time. I am trying another Tressa Watercolors Color Maintenance Shampoo in Hazelnut as well. I may eventually choose one over the other, or mix the colors to get the right one for my hair. My goal is to use only the color maintenance shampoo until the lightened hair has grown out and entirely cut from my medium length "Bob" hairstyle. The color change will be gradual, which is what I want.

Watercolors helps to cover up hair growth after highlighting
When I've had my hair highlighted and it starts to grow out, Watercolors gives me just enough color to cover the growth up until I can have my hair highlighted again.

I love how well it works and that it's temporary
Either wear gloves or use a loofah after putting it in your hair and you won't have a problem. I love how well it works and that it's temporary.

Love the color that my hair becomes when I use this paired with the conditioner, however it leaves my hair in a knotted mess that is near impossible to comb.

lovely shampoo, but just that
Lovely shampoo, however it didn't appear to change my hair color much. Didn't touch the grays. Left my hair soft and silky when used with their conditioner.

I bought this to help extend my color and to help cover gray roots. I'm about 40% silver, so salon color tends to fade faster than it used to.

Revive your color
This is the best product for livening up your hair color when it starts to fade. It's so easy to use, it just shampoos in.

and it works SO MUCH better than the interim touch-up packets provided with color kits
Have used it regularly for years, and it helps freshen up the look and touch-up between colorings. Well worth the money compared to hair color, and it works SO MUCH better than...
