Bandai NamcoDark Souls Remastered (PS4)

This is the original Dark Souls game, but "remastered" onto the PS4, XBOX ONE, and soon the Switch. The game has had some texture updates, patches, way better frame-rate (cough blighttown cough), which makes the game a lot better to play than when this came out in 2011. However, this remaster will not be for everyone, here's why.PEOPLE WHO HAVE PLAYED THIS GAME BEFOREFor people who are returning to this game, you may want to pass. The updates to the game are not really worth it if you have already played it before. If you had this game on PS3 and XBOX 360, you may enjoy it more, due to FPS improvements etc. But is it worth £30 to replay it again? Up to you. As for PC players, who have mods to make the game look even better than the remaster, I would also pass, as the mods sadly look better than the remaster. This is a shame, since a lot more (graphically) could have been done to make PC players want to ditch the mods and get this remaster. This remaster isn't breathtaking, some areas look great however! But some just don't look any different, so for that reason, maybe stick with your modded version.PEOPLE WHO HAVE NEVER PLAYED DARK SOULS 1This is the perfect time for you to jump in. The community is as alive as it's ever been, and you can finally see why this game is considered the best out of all of the souls games. Let me warn you though, this game is HARD. Like smashing your controller against the wall type of hard. But once you get used to how the game works, you'll be addicted. This game is also a great start into one of my favourite game series' of all time, as once you beat this one, you can then play DS2, and DS3.However this series is not for everyone, as some just find it too hard and annoying, to the point where it's not fun anymore, just frustrating, and that's fine! Dark Souls is known for being one of the hardest games you can play, especially at first. So if you are finding it too hard, don't worry! Either take a break, or just stop playing all together, it really doesn't matter. But if you do push through, then you are in for something great.VERDITThis is Dark Souls. This game is super great and super hard and super rewarding. The gameplay feels great (once you get used to it) and the level design is amazing. The story is very deep, and lore heavy, but you don't really have to understand whats going on in order to enjoy the game (however if you do get into the lore say goodbye to your loved ones cos that stuff is deep).But this remaster won't be for everyone. The game is great, yes, but for people who have already played this game, either on PC or console, I get why you wouldn't want to spend money on something that you already have, as they haven't done enough to make this game look much different. But if you're new to the series, or started on Dark Souls 3, then 2, but never got the chance to play 1 since you only play next gen consoles, then this is the perfect time to play the original.PRAISE THE SUN Y'ALL!!!!!

Dark Souls 1 had the unfortunate luck of releasing in a year with a lot of good games Skyrim being the obvious example so back in 2011 when this game was released it wasnt appreciated by the masses but as the years have gone on and the absolute legends at from software have pushed out banger after banger (not you dark souls 2) you may be wondering is it worth playing Dark Souls 1. Yes BUT if you have just finished playing Elden Ring and Dark souls 3 prepare yourself for a much slower and methodical form of fighting that Dark Souls 1 has. What I am saying is just remember this game is from 2011 but if you can look past the flaws in the combat (insta back stabs) and the fact that this "remaster" is perhaps the weakest in terms of improving graphics where other remasters and remakes do a much better job. The story. The lore. The interconnectivity of the different zones. The bosses. You will understand why we now have Elden Ring. If you can see something in the very back ground you can go there. You will be wandering round a zone and then suddenly being like "WAIT I'M HERE NOW". Fromsoft have yet to remake the magic of dark souls 1 and it's experience. The combat may have aged. The online may be jank to say the least but everything else is just bliss. I have got all the trophies for this game on 4 different platforms and will forever hold a special place in my heart for being the foundation of the incredible titles we have today.I hope NO I PRAY (the sun) we get a full re-make so we can all jump in once again.

The saying "git gud" is not to be underestimated. The game that started me on the path to collecting all the souls games. I Love difficult games and this is the game I've been looking for. Trial and error is required to progress through the game as you memorise attack patterns and locations of levels and npcs. The story itself I would consider a masterpiece, especially as you progress towards the end of the game. Overall a great game that I would play again to explore the the different playstyles.

Excellent remastering of the 2011 game. No actual changes to the gameplay elements or enemy placement, this is simply the original dark souls but in 1080p and a consistent 60 fps. Textures also look noticeably better in this version, and the game seems to play a lot smoother with a perfectly stable framerate. The Artorias DLC from the 2012 Prepare to Die edition is also included in this version. Unfortunately, online play on PS4 requires a PS Plus subscription - which is my only criticism as online play on PS3 did not require this. Nevertheless a great remaster of a great game and well recommended to DS veterans or those new to the Souls series.

Updated frame rate and mechanics to a classic game, Dark Souls still has the ability to knock you on your ass when you feel like you’re getting comfortable. It rewards patience and tactics rather than outright aggression and impetuous play. From Soft never let serious gamers down with its level and boss design, and this game exemplifies the turning point from the series going from the fringes to the mainstream. Well worth checking out if you’re a fan of the series or just want an updated go on a classic.

I love this game, love the series.Wanted to buy it again, checked tracking and it's coming from Germany, there is a separate German product advertised under Amazon EU this is disgusting practice from amazon and it's happned before. Major inconvenience.

This game is a masterpiece. It is not without flaws, of course the classic ‘Dark Souls is hard’ is present but there is also a lot of poor game design and jank which shows how old the game truly is. Getting past that though is one of the best games ever created and a must play for anyone thinking about trying it.
