Soundcore V20i by Anker Open Ear Earbuds, Open Ear Headphones True Wireless

These are small but mighty headphones on a $30 budget. You cannot go wrong here. The sound quality is excellent in the default mode but if you are an audiophile never fear you can fully customize the sound in the free soundcore app. If you aren't that savvy, you can also make easy adjustments in the app by type of music you are listening to or there are settings for podcasts and audiobooks. Or you can just leave it on the soundcore signature setting (which sounds great) and forget about it. These babies are very comfortable. I'm perimenopausal so anything in my ear canals make them itch like crazy. I had to find another option. I have a pair of beats over ear headphones that I wear strictly to bed to listen to for noise canceling/white noise. For obvious reasons these aren't ideal for daily wear (ie at work). I have a pair of soundcore aero clips that I love that I plan to keep locked up in my desk at work (they run about $150). I like these for work as my boss thinks they are some kind of newfangled piercing and has no clue I'm listening to music//baseball//podcasts. On a side note, I love these more than the Bose clips and they were half the price. Which brings me to the V20is. These are perfect for my bag or even a pocket as they come in a slim case. And, worst case, at $30 if they get lost or damaged I'm only out $30. Other things you should know: I wear glasses and these work and are reasonably comfortable. I don't know that I would want to test the outer limits of the battery life without a break but that's just me. Speaking of battery life, it maybe could be better but these are $30 headphones, probably can't have it all. Also, in addition to music I'm running a light show (see below), I'm sure this impacts the battery life. They paired easily with my Google Pixel phone. Now for the cons and then my favorite bonus feature. The cons are pretty much first world problems. One, they only come in 3 colors: black, navy and white. I would like more choices, maybe something in neutral or maybe even pastels. Second, they aren't that discreet unlike my aero clips. If I'm out with my in laws I'd like to be able to tune them out without it being quite so obvious that's what I'm doing 🤣🤣🤣 Now, my favorite option on these isn't even related to how they sound. If you go in the soundcore app there's an option called colorful lights. You can set up your earbuds to put on a light show set to the beat of the music. It's very cool. Granted, I can't see the light show because the headphones are over my ears but I've gotten a lot of comments on how cool it looks. So to wrap this up, you aren't going to find a better all around open pair of headphones than these soundcore V20is at this price point. And of course if you get them and hate them, send them back. The worse thing that could happen is you might have to go to the UPS store to send them back 🤣

TL;DR These things are amazing. I have tried over a dozen open ear headphones. And it doesn’t make ANY sense, (mostly because these are SO cheap) but the sound quality on these things blows everything else out of the water. Now, if you want to spend over $100 or more there are certainly better options out there. However, at even up to the $50 or $60 price range (which these are not) the still blow everything else out of the water. And the ONLY one I have found that even comes close is the BlitzMax BT-CT open ear headphones. Even the Blitz Max is better than nearly every other offering out there that has higher reviews. Regardless, these are even better than the BlitzMax for a few reasons: 1.) They have a dedicated EQ app 2.) The sound is on par or better since they both have 16mm drivers 3.) The design of the case is far superior for the following reasons: 1.) Has more of a matte finish so it doesn’t feel slippery as is the case with the BlitzMax 2.) The footprint of the case is more compact. The BlitzMax case is super flat (due to the design of the earbuds) which makes it slightly more difficult to travel with. Not a deal breaker, just slightly more cumbersome 3.) Mentioning some other features between the two charging cases: on the Anker Soundcore, the spring hinge or whatever they use to keep the case closed is much more secure, which makes it nearly impossible for the case to accidentally crack open whilst inside you pocket or bag. While this is not a big deal for the V20i (Soundcore), since the earbuds do not automatically go into pairing mode or search for a known device to connect to, this is the case with the BlitzMax. I cannot tell you how many times this has happened while these were in my pocket and connected to my phone (without my knowledge) and I attempted to place a phone call, only to realize that I had no sound and couldn’t figure out why until the rep had hung up on me lol. 4.) The earbuds do not randomly connect / disconnect while inside standby mode. Now, I don’t recall this happening with the BlitzMax, however, many other highly rated open-ear earbuds (some of which are rated a 4.9, which they clearly are not) have this issue. It’s an absolute deal breaker for me. 5.) The design of the earbuds themselves are nearly perfect. They fit and stay on your ears far better than basically anything else I have used, except for maybe the Beats Powerbeats Pro 2’s, which are $179.99 MSRP. However, the cost can be prohibitively expensive, while those are also “in-ear” earbuds not “open-ear”. Just worth the mention for stability in the ear. The Powerbeats have the best stability bar none that I have ever seen. Back to the V20i though…the ear hooks are adjustable at 4 different levels, so you can get the perfect fit for your ear size and shape. The sound quality is exceptional for this price point. I seriously do not understand how they are turning a profit on these. A+ One last thing, the charger port is a bit recessed which protects the charger cable a bit, while also making sure if they get knocked around the cable will not get ripped out of your case.

These arrived a day early and I am currently wearing them as I write this. So far these aren't bad and I'm having a hard time complaining about what you get for the price. I got these for around $30 and the fact these have touch controls and an app you can use to adjust the EQ, the touch settings, and other things already makes them a good deal. The main reason I bought these is because I needed a pair of open earbuds for work so I can listen to music while still being able to hear what's going on around me. The sound quality isn't terrible but it isn't going to blow you away either. It's kind of like having 2 cheap but decent Bluetooth speakers strapped to your ears. Out of the box they might sound a tad muddy but I like using the hip hop or electronic EQ settings to make them sound more clear with added bass. They don't sound as good as in-ear earbuds (mainly because the bass isn't as rumbly) but they still sound really good, especially for the price. Once you change the EQ settings they have good clarity and you can hear the subtle nuances of each instrument. And although you can't really feel the rumble of the bass you can definitely hear it and most songs sound great on these in my opinion. I did notice that some songs with heavy sub bass sound kind of weird though. The touch controls work pretty well but hitting the right spot can be a little tricky especially when doing double taps. These also stay locked to your ears pretty well. You could headbang to some heavy metal music and these will not be sent into orbit. Some people say these are comfortable and you almost forget you're wearing them but I've had them on for about an hour and I can definitely still feel them. They aren't the most comfortable earbuds I've ever worn but they don't feel that bad either. I wore them at work most of the day and only my left ear started to feel slightly uncomfortable but I think that was just because the earbud needed to be adjusted a bit. The battery life is great and the case has fast charging which is convenient if you want to throw them in the case on your lunch break and get enough juice to last the rest of the day. The case is also smaller than I expected. I thought it would be bigger considering the size of the earbuds but it's literally the length of a toilet paper roll (i'm sick and have a roll laying on my bed next to the case) and it's about as wide as the upper part of your palm and as thick as a mcdonalds cheeseburger lol if you want a solid pair of open ear buds for work but aren't trying to spend a fortune these are a good option to consider. Just keep in mind that you aren't going to get super high quality studio level sound from these but that's not what they're made for anyway.

I've been using wireless earbuds to listen to true crime podcasts at work for quite a few years. I have sensitive ears, so the type of earbud that you just shove into your ear canal doesn't work for me; they hurt my ears. I was finally able to settle on a neckband, with small molded buds that nestle in the outer part of the ear, pointed into the canal. I used soft silicone ear tips that hooked into the upper part of my ear, and they were pretty comfy. However, the neckband was silicone connected to hard plastic, and after a while of putting them on and taking them off, the silicone breaks away from the hard plastic, and while the sound is fine, the earbuds just fall apart. I had three or four of the same neckands, and I finally just got fed up and started looking for something different. Initially, neckband batteries lasted longer than individual earbuds, but now that's not necessarily the case. The problem for me was finding molded earbuds small enough to not hurt my ears. So I found these and decided to give them a try, and I'm very glad I did. They have a silicone piece that hooks over the ear, and the speaker lies up against the outer ear, with four different positions for adjustment. I need a few things with my work earbuds: 1. Battery life. I start my day at 7:30 am, and around 3:30 pm, I get a sound notifying me that the battery is at 20%. I only wear one at a time because I'm at work, and I don't want to be completely shut off from my coworkers should they need to speak to me. If, for some reason, the one bud dies, I can switch to the other one, which is still in the case and charged. 2. Multipoint connection. I have these connected to my tablet, which is how I listen to podcasts, and my cell phone at the same time, so if I get a phone call, it automatically disconnects from the tablet and switches to my ringing phone. 3. Range. I get up from my desk and move around the office, and I've had some earbuds that wouldn't stay connected at as little as 15 feet away. I experimented once with these, and I would say that at approximately 70 feet away from my tablet, around a corner, they started breaking up a bit. That is, by far, the longest range I've ever come across. I also have a restroom that's maybe 30 or 40 feet away with a thick wall separating it from my devices, and they stay connected. 4. Comfort. Once or twice a day, I need to pull the speaker away from my ear for a few seconds because it gets a tiny bit achy, but comparatively, they are comfortable. Bonus: with other earbuds, if I stay out of range for too long, I often have to reconnect when I get back in range. With these, they will automatically reconnect. There's an app that can be used; you can customize the sound and set functions. For instance, you can set the volume to increase or decrease with one tap or two taps, etc. When the battery is low, you can just put them back in the case and they'll charge up again, even without the case being plugged in. I'm very happy that I found these!

Absolutely the most comfortable ear buds. I forget I have one or both in use. Sound quality is great,excellent for movies/tv, phone calls. The fact that they do not protrude in you ear allows for conversations with others with out removing one. I can watch a movie in bed with one ear on a pillow and still comfortable. Bonus is the price. They move from my IPad to my IPhone automatically when audio ends on one and starts on the other. I took on off and was putting it on my night stand, unknowingly dropped it in a glass of water for about 5 minutes. Still works perfectly. Only downside sometimes is if they are out of the case they are automatically connected to one of my devices and stay connected.

Best for under 40 dollars. My airpods broke so when i found these i thought they were good. I use these at the gym most of the time and i really like the hooks because they don’t fall off while im exercising. I’ve ahd these for a year and i had no issues whatsoever. I also use the app thats included with the headphones. I don’t really use it much but i thought it was pretty nice. These things last a WEEK i can’t remember the last time charged these things😭 usually i would charge them a week but one day i stopped and i didn’t REALIZE it until then thay i havent charged them and they’re still on!!! Battery life is underrated with these things. I don’t usually get them wet under my headphones but they should be sweat proof i had a couple sweats on it and they still work. You can use the skip botton and pause button and you can also assign commands to it like how you repeat two buttons twice to skip twice on the other ear to pause. They work well with my iphone 14 pro. Like my airpods did.

I ordered these earbuds as I needed a second pair for running. This review is based on the performance and price point. The ear buds are adjustable however they often feel loose and don’t feel tight onto your ears like most others. Do that have ear cups. For music listening they are not the best. The mids and bass are just not there. Even with the app which claims it will improve this with an equalizer as well as preset settings for pop, rap, hip-hop, classical etc it still falls short. If your out on the street or in a gym the music will get drowned out, so noise cancellation is just not there. When trying to have conversations over the phone with them, you can hear the collar, but the caller can’t hear you that well, you have to speak up significantly. They do connect to your phone quickly and setting controls for pause, play, skip are nice. I would put the price point of these around maybe $15.00 not the $25.00 spent. I wouldn’t recommend these if you want to work out in them or use these on the go. I will be returning them to find a better alternative.

The review is based on the price point, which was like $25 on sale, and admittedly I had low expectations. Also bear in mind I’m a little bit of a headphone junkie, but each pair has a purpose. Here I was just looking for a cheap replacement for my beater headphones to occasionally wear, and didn’t really expect to like these so much. I know some people will hate the technology, with the complete pass through audio, outside the ear, which intially all sounded like a gimmick to me. It’s not, I’m sold, and this will not be my last outside the ear headphones. The best way to describe it, it’s like you’re listening to the tv with your friends around, not like it’s yelling in your ear like normal earbuds. They have surprisingly good bass, not anything that’s going to challenge your over the ear monitor headphones, but good for earbuds. For wearing around the house doing chores, or occasionally in the bedroom at night, either with an audiobook, or something ambient, these have exceeded expectations. The best part about them is you forget you even have them on. I’ve never experienced that with any headphones in all my 40+ years. I can wear them literally all day, comfortably, with no ear fatigue. They are literally the most comfortable headphones I’ve owned, but bear in mind I haven’t used them in the heat. They also sound good with music, with enough range to pick up those smaller details you’re looking for. All in all, can’t recommend these enough, and probably would pay double the asking price.

I was encouraged to buy a particular brand of bone-induction headphones by a colleague after mentioning my problems with in-ear ones. Sounded like a great idea, I thought, until I saw the prices and realised that it was a bit much to be committing to without knowing if I'd enjoy the way they worked. I thought these seemed like a really good compromise; a way to test the waters, see what I thought. I can always buy a more expensive pair later, I figured. Several months in, and I've yet to find any reason to want to upgrade. As an in-office and WFH headset they are excellent - sound quality is fantastic (crisp and clear), and according to colleagues the microphone is great too, with no distortion or fuzziness. They synched immediately and easily to both my laptop and iPhone... which is great because I love Technology, but Technology doesn't love me back. I don't use the Soundcore earpieces for TV or dedicated music listening... but having said, I don't think anyone would be disappointed by them in that scenerio, unless (like me) your normal alternative for those activities is something like Bose over-ear noise-cancelling. Obviously it's an unfair comparison and I absolutely won't take a star off for it. If dedicated noise cancelling isn't a mandatory requirement, I reckon most people would be perfectly happy with the performance. If you're looking for a set of general-purpose headphones that will absolutely do a great job, give good clear sound without rupturing your eardrum, and work great for videoconferencing, then these'd absolutely be my pick. Maybe something would be better with the more expensive brand-name ones, but honestly I can't find a defecit that needs correcting on these. Even the thingy that goes over your ear, which I expected to be annoying, adjusts well and sits comfortably. I've forgotten I'm wearing them more than once, and that never happened with the in-ear sort: I always had them out within seconds of finishing a meeting. Bang-for-buck wise, I can't fault them. I've been using them for months now, and they're going strong, recharging well, etc. One day when they eventually die on me, maybe I'll try that expensive brand...but honestly, I don't think so. These tick every box I need, and are comfy besides.

If, like me, you have odd shaped ears and need a pair of headphones for running that won't immediately fall out - and don't break the bank - look no further! I've persisted for years with in-ear headphones, including some fancy running ones from a well-known sportswear brand and some pricey ones from a top phone brand. I honestly think my ears must be a wonky shape because no matter what I do they never quite fit right, and when I'm running I have the annoyance of having to adjust one side or the other every minute or two. Eventually I got fed up and looked for something more secure, but I didn't want to spend a lot on a pair I'd only use a short time each week. Nor did I need the greatest sound quality. I settled on these V20i's and I'm so pleased I did. They felt a little weird to start with, mainly because I'm used to something being *inside* the ear canal, so psychology I felt like they had fallen out. However, it didn't take long to get past that and now, for the first time in years, I can run with no annoying adjustments whatsoever. None. Brilliant! Now, I'm writing this review from the perspective of someone who doesn't want or need the absolute best audio quality, or the most futuristic looking buds. I just need something that has decent sound quality, is well made, and most importantly stays put - and these tick all those boxes. I may also be slightly unusual in that I listen to audiobooks or podcasts when I run, so I've not put these through their paces with thumping bass. For what I need, the audio is excellent - clear, defined, and plenty loud enough. As these rest over the ear they do not isolate sound, meaning when I run I can fully hear my surroundings for safety. Again, this is perfect for my needs but something to keep in mind if you prefer full sound isolation. The sound can, at times, get slightly drowned out by particularly loud traffic nearby but not enough to bother me, and I've never had to turn them up fully to compensate. The Soundcore app is excellent and lets you configure the buttons on each side with ease. I've not had any accidental presses of these, and they give out a nice audible beep so you know when you've hit them. Connection has been strong and stable with my Samsung Galaxy. I'm so impressed with these, particularly given the price - an absolute bargain if they're on offer. Never before have a worn a pair of headphones that barely feel like they're there, don't cause any fatigue or soreness at all, and stay locked on when I'm running. Perfect.

It’s just a bit big… hard to wear whilst being in a hijab and stays charged for long

LOVE these headphones. Never had ones that sit on top of the ear before. Took a chance. Glad I did because I love them! Soundcore provides an app you download from the App Store and you can choose what functions you want to use (for example, single press on R side to PLAY, and then single press on L to stop. You can program double presses and triple presses as well. I confess I'm not an audiophile, just want decent headphones for when I'm out walking. I think the quality of the sound is great, but YMMV. With these you will be able to hear your music/podcast/phone call etc just fine, while still being fully aware of sounds of cars etc around you. I should also comment on the comfort of these. I find these are so comfortable that I've been wearing them most of the days since I got them. With the little 'arm' on it that goes behind the ear, they stay on quite securely unlike other wireless bluetooth earbuds that can fall out of your ear fairly easily and get lost easily. The looks of them I think is stylish enough although that's not an important feature to me. But I think they look nice. The case that you charge them in is quite substantial as well. This is the 2nd Soundcore product I've owned. The first one is a bluetooth speaker and I've had it for years and it's really good quality and solid build. Their prices are quite reasonable. I paid $40 for the over the ear earbuds and for the features you get and the quality, I think it's a good deal!
