A very nice compass; Great value.
A very nice compass; Great value. I paid less than four dollars for this compass, and was surprised by the apparent excellent quality. The magnetic needle operates very similar to much more expensive compasses--no binding, very smooth, good damping. The clear yellow plastic makes it easier to find than other clear-plastic models. Generously sized, and with a decent magnifying glass built in. Not sure what it's called, but the part that turns to set your direction feels tight, yet turns easily and smoothly. I just bought 3 more for friends to use. Some time ago I bought a pack of 10 cheap liquid-filled compasses from another vendor for less than $20, expecting the magnetic needles to at least reliably point to magnetic north...WRONG!!! They turned out to be unreliable; the magnetic needles seemed weakly magnetized and not very free to rotate. The compass I am now reviewing has none of those problems. I think you will be pleased with it if you buy one.

“Simple, Accurate, and Worth Every Penny” For the price—it's great! I didn’t need it, but I tested it a few times just to be sure it pointed north... and it did, every time. I brought it as a backup for night hikes, and yes—it worked perfectly. Lightweight, reliable, and gives peace of mind when heading into the unknown. A solid little tool to keep around.

Needle gets stuck
Love the color and size but the needle seems to get stuck quite a bit. Not sure if it is supposed to do that or not. A little shake and it is unstuck. It is annoying when things do not work just right. Could be a one off design issue with the particular one I purchased or it can be an issue on them all. Not sure.

What direction do you want it to read
They say that you get what you pay for and this is a very good example. I found that it will several north directions and none may be correct. I probably should return it because it is so bad and I probably will but for the price I am not sure it is worth the gas. it sure wasn't worth the cheap price

Excellent compass, well suited for teaching compass work to others.
An excellent compass for instructing in the use of a compass and in map reading. Very rugged and has been reliable after numerous outings. Larger size make for easier reading.
