Best waffle iron ever? Not.
This waffle maker makes the absolute most perfect waffles! I use the yeast waffle recipe from America's Test Kitchen/Cook's Magazine and I can get eight of the most beautiful waffles from each batch. I've had a number of waffle bakers over the years but this is the absolute best.UPDATE: Well, that didn't last long. The lower plate on the waffle iron stopped working after only a few months and now it is unusable. It was wonderful while it lasted though.UPDATE #2: Presto is replacing the entire waffle maker at no cost. Perfect customer service.

Thick, crispy, fluffy waffles.
Why did you pick this product vs others?:I chose this waffle maker because it makes one inch thick waffles. It's great so far. The waffles turned out crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The price is great too. I wish Presto made a double waffle maker.

Works as described, but...
This Presto single-waffle maker does what it says it will, but I'm not sure this is a necessary kitchen gadget (or a good value at forty bucks). A totally lazy person would probably just toast an Eggo waffle, and a waffle fanatic would want a bigger machine with a true "flipping" mode and more than basic functionality. This machine is pretty simple to use. Plug in and heat for 4 minutes, add waffle mix and flip, wait 4-6 minutes depending on how crunchy you like your waffle. That's it. I used a Belgian Waffle box mix and used 1/2 cup of the batter; looking at the finished waffle I think I should have used maybe 2/3 cup for fullness. This is described as a "flip" waffle iron but don't imagine you're getting something like you'd see at the hotel breakfast buffet. There's no actual mechanism to twirl the waffle upside-down, you have to manually pick up the whole machine and turn it over yourself. It's not heavy but it's also not something I would trust a kid to do.There is a single indicator light on the top of the machine, it shows orange when you plug in and that's all it does. It never turns green when it's properly pre-heated (you have to manually time the 4 minutes), and it doesn't turn any other color or beep when the waffle is cooked (you have to manually time that as well). So again, this isn't a machine a kid could probably use easily. The waffle itself was fine and popped right out (the box mix had both egg and oil). Cleanup was nothing more than wiping the plates. The cord wraps around the bottom and the machine stands on end with a very compact footprint for storage.

Waffles stick!
The pros are that’s it’s small, makes thick waffles and is compact for storage. The cons are it sticks! I have no idea why no reviews mention this but it is a pain to open the iron once the waffle is done - you need super strength and then once you can finally get it open, the waffle sticks to iron with brute force and takes a fork to pry away at it and hope that it comes out in one piece. Now, I’ll have a fun time trying to clean the stuck on boys out of the waffle iron.

Fine, inexpensive waffle iron
Inexpensive and very easy to use and clean. Waffles are perfectly sized in my opinion and taste great. I haven't stored it but that would be easy since it cools off easily, seems to have no risk of accidental personal burn.

Great "starter" waffle maker
I bought this one as a "starter" waffle maker. After comparing different brands, styles, and sizes and going through (and filtering) reviews for many, many units, I decided to go with the Presto Flip, and this is why:1. Seemingly much lesser chance of it malfunctioning, as compared to other waffle makers in the same or higher price range, or to more complicated (and therefore, much more expensive) units.2. Easy to use & easy to clean.3. Easy to store.4. Great price.Waffle maker worked right out of the box.Waffles are small. It takes about 5 minutes to make oneThere isn't a ight/sound indicator to tell you when the waffles are done, but it appears to be easy to operate, and so far, the results are consistent.
