Yes, the right brush matters, and this is it! AMAZING painting experiences await.
Wow. I'm blown away by this brush! Wish I'd known about it years ago. It's true that if you don't use quality supplies when beginning watercolor art, you will become discouraged. I've played around with watercolors for years because I love the flow of them, but never really got the hang of it. This beautiful brush is a game-changer. I was immediately struck by the look and feel of the quality. The bristles are soft, smooth, and hold a good amount of water. The tip is incredible to work with! It keeps a very sharp point that works as well as a fine tipped pen. So I can paint in tiny places with no paint blobs coming off the end. The body stays tightly in place while needed, taking curves very well, but also spreads out softly with little pressure to paint the wider areas. No splaying out of stray hairs, no forcing the bristles to move a certain way, and always the proper amount of water flow coming out, which I thought was amazing. (Seems like I never have too much or too little.) Very easily responsive to your moves. I bought a size 8 first of all. If you are a beginner and don't want to make a large initial investment, this is the FIRST brush you need. It will give you such an enjoyable painting experience that you will be coming back for the other sizes, using this initial purchase as your guide. I wish my first instructor had told me about this brush. It's a great investment. Thank you, Silver, for putting out fine quality products for people like me who find emotional satisfaction in their art experience. I'm also an art-supply hoarder, so I can't wait to try out the other sizes. Happy painting and never give up.

This one brush easily replaces 3 or 4 different sizes!
I read quite a few of the reviews & the ratings were so encouraging I ordered a #8 round for watercolor. It seems sizing is relative to each brand. I had expected it to be a little bigger than it was & was initially disappointed UNTIL I began using it. Just as advertised, it holds a lot of water & paint, is soft & holds together so the paint &/or water is easily controlled. The greatest joy is how well it holds its shape & POINT. I can get into the smallest areas without having to change to a smaller brush. It’s excellent for some of the minute detail I use in painting leaves & wildflowers & yet is smooth & flows for larger areas, such as skies, mountains & water (rivers & lakes). I have been recommending this brush to other artists. One reviewer stated this brush was better than their Winsor Newton #7 kolinsky. I discounted that review initially but after painting an average of several hours a day for over a week, I am changing my mind. I’m keeping my eye on the prices with intention to buy more when they are on sale. This brush is so responsive that I’m getting some results I’ve previously struggled with. If you want to get by with a minimum of brushes this is definitely a keeper!

very nice for fine tree branches
It has a different feel than my rigger brush. The point is tiny and the body is plump so it holds lots of paint. I can make VERY long FINE lines. In order to make thicker lines one needs to press the brush down, however, pressing down requires that the line is at least the length of the pressed -down brush. This is usually OK for me but if not, I just thicken the line by going back and forth with the tip. This brush style is a must have, in my opinion, for making tiny branches.

This brush is magical! Size 8 round
On my cursory usage and in comparison to all my other brushes it ROCKS! There's a good size belly to hold a decent amount of water, it doesn't dump all the water all at once onto the paper, it can hold a fine point and yet cover a good bit of paper (I work on postcard sized paper so, there's that), feels balanced in my hand, the synthetic acts a bit like a natural hair brush while have the spring back of a synthetic (I really like that) and it looks cool!Jerry's Artarama packaged the brush well and it arrived in perfect condition (with no help from the mail deliverer who BENT the package to shove it into our post box DESPITE the DO NOT BEND printed ALL OVER THE PACKAGE; none of which has any bearing on how the seller packaged the item and everything to do with me venting). So in conclusion, I love this brush and will happily buy other brushes in this line from this seller in the future.

What's so Magic about this Brush?
Well, maybe not magic, but WOW! I watch tutorials and other artists online, WATERCOLOR. I noticed that most were singing the praises of the Black Velvet Brush. So I decided to try it. And truthfully, I'm glad I did. It was a good investment. I bought it and I'm glad I did. It is easy to handle, holds water, great on helping me gauge the amount of water in my brush, easy to work with, my wash and variegated wash has really come to a real smooth technique because of the excellence of this brush. Smooth. I mean, what can I say more than if you haven't tried it... you should. I'm glad I did.

Some of the best brushes
This is a very nice brush. Has a very pointy tip and holds a lot of water and paint. It snaps back nicely after applying it to paper. I’m new to the watercolor world but I’ve tried many different paints, paper and brushes. My advice for a newbie...... Winsor Newton Cotman brushes are cheaper and in my opinion a great brush for the money and beginners.UPDATE: I’ve now been watercolor painting for well over a year. These brushes are AMAZING! Beginners, professional every and step in your painting journey can benefit from these brushes. They hold a ton of water and the tip is super pointed. I now have an 8,6,4 and 2. Can’t beat the smaller brushes for details and smaller scale paintings.

Best watercolor brushes.
These brushes are excellent. I follow and am a fan of Penny Black. She almost always uses these brushes for watercolor and created the interest in me.
