I measured and timed the outflow...
I bought the 1 gallon Purewell gravity filter. The assembly directions were meh, but it was pretty simple to put together. Nothing leaks after several uses. At first, I didn't think the filter was working. It's VERY slow to start. Drip...drip...drip. Took all day. By the 3rd full cycle, however, it was much better. A thin but mostly continuous drizzle. And it tasted good. No funky taste or odors. On cycle 4, I measured and timed the outflow. I filled the top chamber with a full gallon (4 quarts). It gets right to the top, but it does all fit. After one hour, I was able to dispense 6 cups of water (1 1/2 quarts). I had to tilt it a bit to top off that sixth cup. After a second hour, I was able to dispense about 5 and 2/3 cups of water, tilting again. So it does slow as the weight of the water pressing down on top lessens. The third hour, the flow pretty much stopped, so I went to bed. The next morning, there was very little to dispense. About 1/3 cup. 2 cups remained in the top chamber that never flowed through. And 2 cups remained in the bottom chamber below the spout, even after tilting. So the output is 3 quarts per cycle. My conclusion: 6 cups an hour is plenty for myself and my husband while we're camping. We'll just have to refill the top chamber a few times a day. The filter's size is ideal for packing, and it appears to work well. I recommend running a few cycles through PRIOR to camping or you'll be thirsty that first day!

Good Berkey alternative for the price. Filter took extra work priming
Seems like a solid alternative for the price for a gravity filter of this style. I like the 1 gallon size, since I live alone, and this is portable enough for travel. The filter didn't work as expected out of the box. I learned I had to prime the filter, however, pushing water through the nozzle from the sink didnt work for me as expected. I literally had to fill the upper jug full of water, hold it over my head, and suck with my mouth to get the water to initially pull through the filter to prime it. Not ideal, and I had to spend a decent amount of time to figure that out. If I hadn't gotten it primed my own way, I would have attempted to return this. So either get a primer pump along with this, or plan to "beta test" the filter once it arrives. Actual assembly is super easy, and took me about 10 minutes out of the box.

Filter didn't work. White creep everywhere.
I bought the 1 gallon water system. It worked great for about six weeks. Then my 300.00 coffee pot stopped working because it needed to be cleaned. It took four times of cleaning it with descaling tabs. My cat stopped drinking the water and my water tasted funny. Plus, there was white creep on the spigot, on my coffee pot and on my cat's water fountain. And yes, I even reprimed the filter, and still didn't work. I am very upset that I wasted my money on this system. Of course maybe the filter was bad when they sent it to me but now, I have to purchase a totally different system and this is rendered useless as I am not buying another filter. I only fill my tank once daily and bought this in Nov. 2025. It is supposed to last much longer than six weeks, even with using it for one gallon a day. I am very disappointed in this purchase and will not purchase Purewell products again.

Awesome
I started with the 2.25gal but for my alone it was too big. I kept it because I like it and I might gift it. The 1gall is PERFECT for my needs. Am a regular tea drinker and drink lots of water all day. I used to do the Brita filter which I mention because I liked for the flavor but I got tired of refilling so often (I use filtered water for my daily teapot as well). This tastes just as good to me, if not better, fresher. The viewing window is great. The 1 gall stand is 5.5" high, enough to slide my coffee maker pot underneath each morning (that's how I make my tea). The 2.25 gall stand is 6" tall and quite a bit wider. The single filter is rated at 5000gall; it's shorter but wider than the 2.25gall which has two filters rated at 3000gall each. I'm good for a while even with the 1 gall filter!! No leaks or drips anywhere, you get a choice of spigot, black plastic or metal. Tools included. To purge the filter before use, you have to assemble as explained and then push the filter with the washer against your faucet, you can't just hold it below, you have to create a vaccuum and almost immediately the water comes out the filter and you see the excess carbon. After than just run one container full through it before drinking. I couldn't be happier with the quality AND the price. Seriously.

It works well.
It looks nice, but most importantly it works. I read some of the reviews and they complained that it is really slow. They obviously didn't read the instructions that inform you that the first few times using it will be slow. After that the flow is reasonable. It has helped remove the sulfur smell that we sometimes get from the well water where we are at. We full time rv and my wife is very sensitive to water chages so this has helped her and that is what matters. Would get it again.
