Poor quality, poor design and poor customer service.
Having bought several parasols over the years, I can say after 11 months of 'use' (effectively one summer actually as purchased in May) that I cannot recommend this product. The company were very terse and unhelpful with one sentence or shorter replies to reasonable questions regarding repair. In fact, the next parasol I purchased from a shop with a high Street presence to facilitate repair. The rope that lifts the parasol broke spontaneously whilst not being actively raised or lowered (fortunately stopping about 2 foot above my two year old daughter's head). I can only suspect poor construction or a defective cord. Replacing the cord is not straight forward because there are rivets holding certain parts together. The warranty is useless as delivery for such a large item would be too costly. I asked about on site repair and did not receive a reply. The first two replies to my messages were so brief and hostile that I did not want to have anything more to do with this company. I was really surprised that they didn't even acknowledge how upsetting seeing the parasol drop suddenly above my daughter would have felt.Anyway, stay away. Aside from the poor customer service and poor quality cord, there is another issue with the base. The for sections of the base are held together by little metal pins that are shaped like a open staple. Unfortunately, my daughter and other children find it fun to remove these pins. This then allows the base weights to shift an inch or two, and before you know it, a mild gust will likely blow the parasol over. I've thought about trying to apply an adhesive to keep these pins in place, but ideally they would still be removable. This is a design flaw and makes the product nightly unsuitable if you have under 5 year olds around. If you think I'm a moaning Minnie, read my other reviews. Nearly all of them are five stars.

parasol closed without warning
Caveat emptor! Shade collapsed without warning. After one and a half summers' careful use by day and storage in the approved cover by night, the nylon cord which hoists the shade's rib mechanism seemed to snap less than an hour after I had carefully lowered the parasol over our garden sofa and table yesterday. Mercifully, we had had breakfast and left the table minutes before. This could have caused injury. Ironically, the rest of the parasol unit appears to be in excellent condition. Can I replace the nylon cord with something stronger? This parasol would seem to be overpriced if it is not built to last two summers.

Poor quality on most crucial part.
This product seems like value for money when you buy it ,but please beware the cord only lasts a short period of time one summer to be exact .Repairs are very difficult and involved .Imagine a lovely summer's day and you go to open this wonderful looking umbrella and nothing happens. Please do not go through the disappointment I've been through.

Poor quality steel base that you can’t replace.
The problem with this product is the base. The steel used for the cross base is very mild and only about 1mm thick - ours rotted away after a year meaning that the parasol collapsed and was unusable. I wrote to the company who sell it to ask if I could buy a replacement metal cross for the base but they don’t sell them separately and I would have to buy the whole thing again. As the square base warped slightly when it collapsed I’m not sure this would have worked anyway but as we had paid such a lot for it I wasn’t prepared to just throw it away and buy another. The parasol itself is sturdy and the cover is very good. It moves around quite a bit in the wind which I think is what puts more pressure on the base. We’ve now sunk the base of the pole into cement and hope this means we can use it again for many more years as it is a nice looking item for the patio. All in all I wouldn’t recommend paying out £200 for an item you have to throw away in one to two years. I would get something cheaper. Nice item but not good enough quality base for the price point.

Good value
After a lot of research we decided on this cantilever parasol due to it being a complete package with base and cover etc. We've now had it a while and it's withstood strong wind and rain (we only have water in the four base bits). The positives:- Lovely cream/off white colour, goes well with everything.- Easy to assemble (one man needed)- Sturdy (we've had it up in light winds and it stays put which our previous parasol didn't do)- Looks much more expensive than it is- Cover was to put on- Easy to move around (can be moved by one person - base has four bolts that secure it into place that can be separated to move it more easily).Small drawbacks:- The base is quite large (not an issue if it's hidden behind furniture and does keep it sturdy but if on full view might look a bit 'unsightly')- Not quick to move when the sun moves and you want a different area to be in shade!Overall this offers great value as it includes a reasonable quality base and good cover. Would highly recommend.

Well built easy to use, smooth action to unfold and collapse.
Good quality and the suspended canopy means as the wind increases the canopy moves rather than lifting the whole supporting frame.Needs the weight blocks if you don’t intend to bolt it down, these cover nearly one square meter so factor this into how you intend to place the parasol, particularly if it’s for a table and chairs. (Picture shows 1m measure.) It helps to be tall when placing the weather cover onto the parasol for storage.

I tried to make them look better by putting plant pots on them but my Husband ...
The weights for this parasol are very big and ugly. I tried to make them look better by putting plant pots on them but my Husband has since got rid of the weights and has bolted it to the floor. It is much neater. It does sway around quite a bit in any breeze and does behave very differently to the one we have that goes through the centre of the table. Not really a complaint, just think it is a different thing. Still glad I bought it.
