Works as advertised.. easy to use, put in some water, fill with e gas, shake and read percentage... Only drawback is thag cap doesnt seal tight and leaks.when shaking... Plastic bottle deformed from sun when left in car in Texas sun.

I chose this kit as it used smaller amount of gas than many. I've been able to determine how much "non-ethanol" gas I need to pump first to clear the line at a station that uses a single delivery hose for delivery. Not that I appreciate paying $1 a gallon over premium 10% ethanol gas. It take 2 gallons get to what I'm buying. The bottles have a more graduated scale than many others too. I would have preferred glass over plastic for a longer reuse life. Ethanol gas is the worst thing ever for gas that is going to be left in small engines including generators. This kit was a small price to pay to protect my farm, motorcycle and vehicles that are stored more than driven.

I've only tried this test once so far and maybe I didn't fill it exactly to the lines or maybe my normal pump gas isn't quite 10% ethanol. I'm reading around 7% but at least I confirmed that it isn't over 10%. Ive been using this gas in small engines which probably isn't ideal to have any ethanol but non-ethanol fuel is hard to find and expensive. I've heard rumors that some gas can contain even more ethanol so I wanted a way to test it myself. This first test is close enough that I don't want to waste any more but I'll assume I should have filled the water to the top of the blue line and the gasoline to the top of the red line which would likely bring the reading right to the 10% line but really I just wanted to be sure they weren't selling E15 as the regular gas. An alterior motive for getting this kit was to use just to test for water in the fuel. Obviously, a clean jar or bottle would be fine for that test but it was another excuse to buy this set. I was quickly able to confirm that an older can of gasoline I've had from draining it out of a generator does contain a fair amount of water and that was the reason it wasn't running. I knew it was the problem but now I proved it. This will also be a good test if I spend the extra money to find and buy the non-ethanol fuel or maybe to test the higher grades of gasoline.

Wet simple method to check for ethanol content in your gasoline. I used to use plastic bottles and guess about how much ethanol I had. These are simple to use and give a fairly accurate measurement.
