Review: Another GS oddball fights for justice - An adventure story set in a Russian prison camp. One goes along with the hero, believing and wishing him success, but not really believing this all could happen. But a really good read. I love Gerald Seymour! Review: Very good - Well written novel. Quite sad. Some very harrowing parts. However it is a very good read and well worth purchasing.

Gerald Seymour never, ever disappoints.
Absolutely brilliant book! I have read every one of Gerald Seymour's books as they have been released over the years and have never been disappointed with their well written, wonderful stories that are totally believable and make you want to follow the central character to the very last page. His stories are detailed and accurate and never guarantee a neat, happy outcome which keeps the reader enthralled to the very end. I read Archangel many years ago and read it again recently and loved it even more. The introduction by James Mates updating the reader on the change in the political climate since the book was first published was very interesting and informative.

Want to read
A great clear story start to finish. Beginning, middle and end. There is no mystery unanswered. Characters clear and understood. The hero is unlikely however can be understood. In the same circumstances could the reader do the same? Me I felt wanting. A great read in a wet miserable August. One of Mr Seymours I missed when first published. I am glad I found this copy. I hope you can too.

A harrowing read. Well paced but a bit overlong.

FANTASTIC
Such insight into what goes on in other places. Such humanity. Such a bewildering array of prisoners whose characters were brilliantly displayed and a true hero to enjoy - or even worship โฆ. as did the โzeksโ in that prison camp. Epic read.

You Know The Ending
You know is going to happen but what a great journey it is to get there. What an uplifting story.

Gerald Seymour is an excelent writer. When reading his books one feels one is present where it is all happening. Waiting for his next book

A great book. An unlikely hero. The ultimate anti hero who believed in humanity. A good story. Totally believable. Recommended

I must confess it, this will be a DNF...yes, I gave up after 112 pages of painful reading. I tried hard to get myself involved with the story, but I failed. I tried to like the characters, but I failed there too. I was expecting a good cold war espionage novel, but the book was far from it. I will add on top of all that that Mr Seymour's prose is excruciatingly hard to follow, the way sentences are constructed is too often too cumbersome. So....

A good read maintained pace without the end being too tidy but well wrapped up. An excellent cast of characters
