The World's Fittest Book: The Sunday Times Bestseller from the Strongman Swimmer : Edgley, Ross: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: A total legend writes a legendary book - So I've been following Ross on social media ever since I began weight training, his physique is just outrageous so it helped to motivate with climbing iron ladder to a lifestyle of heavy lifting (this now, 6 years ago). His fitness endeavours never cease to amaze me and he's still doing them now! This puts me in a very biased position, after all, he is a total legend! However, I have spent a lot of time sifting through the broscience, reading literature and tweaking/playing with training programmes/principles. Which means I kind of know a lot of the contents of the book. And to be honest, this was a massive relief/reassurance. His book contains the info needed to develop YOUR own training for YOUR goals, which is what the fitness industry doesn't do. Ross is literally giving you the tools to make programmes which 1) are specific to you -- you chose them after all all 2) enjoyable -- again, you chose 3) keep you motivated -- who chose them? ... You did 4) can be tweaked whenever you like and switched up if you change goals -- I think you're getting my point here. This'll make it harder for the newbies because it's easier to follow BS workouts in magazines/fitness role models than to develop your own training, however, if you've been there done that and now taking your fitness into your own hands: it's perfect! His journey is incredibly interesting, the handful of recipes are very interesting, he provides workout templates etc which I won't use since I no longer weight lift and do purely gymnastics strength bases/skill training, it's a very good and easy read! Only problems are: he's spent 10+ years trying and testing and making all the mistakes which he learnt from. You (you reading this) need to have made loads of mistakes and wasted time training pointlessly to really appreciate the depth of this book and how the principles truly define real training. I've given it 4 stars because I know I'm incredibly biased, I also already know most of whats inside the book, however, learnt a handful of very interesting things. Definitely worth buying, especially for the training principles and also to realise just how much the human body is really capable of. Actually, I've changed my mind, he's too awesome, I'm giving him 5 stars :'D Review: Very interesting and informative - I really enjoyed this book, which is full of information about training and nutrition. It would be useful for a beginner or expert in the field to broaden their knowledge. I found it fascinating and it contains some very useful information, recipes and programmes. I recommend this book to anyone interested in fitness.

A total legend writes a legendary book
So I've been following Ross on social media ever since I began weight training, his physique is just outrageous so it helped to motivate with climbing iron ladder to a lifestyle of heavy lifting (this now, 6 years ago). Great Read
Hugely respect Ross - tremendous athlete. Inspirational, informative and entertaining book. You will certainly pick up some golden nuggets of information but IMHO would benefit from including a section for training for 'real people', i.e. those not employed as a fitness journalist. All-in-all a very inspirational and good resource book based on a solid foundation but not really that practical for the 'rest of us' (if that was Ross' intent) unless you have some knowledge and experience to apply the info into your own schedule.

Really good read - a must for any fitness enthusiast
This book is a pleasure to read, it really is! Ross takes you through his fitness journey and you can really hear his voice in the words. I knew a little about how impressive Ross was before reading this book, however even after the first 4 chapters I was blown away - what a life!! In my opinion there are few sports that wouldn't benefit from the training principles laid out in this book! If you are serious about getting fit, whether it's gaining muscle, a faster marathon time, being more well-rounded then this is the book for you. I would advise some caution, however - there is a section about a workout you can do around the world, anywhere, any time - some of these workouts require equipment so keep that in mind. Genuinely couldn't recommend this book enough - even if you aren't into your fitness it is an incredible story by an incredible human being on a fascinating journey. I would read again just to read about the people Ross has met and what he has learned from them.

Great book! Believe the hype!
Great book, much of the content explains the writers life, studies, and journey. There is a lengthy section which details the foundations of exercise, which I personally find beneficial even with a vast knowledge thanks to years of participation in a variety of sport, and a sport science degree. This is all broken down into lamens terms though for beginners and for those who just want to know in the simplest way what the writer is talking about! The rest is then divided into sections providing programs and explanations of what excercises to do, when to do them, how to supplement them with the right foods etc, and for what purpose they serve. Dependent on what you’re looking for, this book provides 2x20 week programs which alter in 4 week cycles, and 1x12 week program which can be utilised anywhere and everywhere! Highly recommend this book!! Believe the hype!

Fantastic book
I always saw the images of this guy but didn't know who he was and what he did. But this book gave me the best introduction. There is no limitation on what significant challenges he took on—and he stayed in his lane. This has given me an extra boost, and I strongly recommend it to all the crazy people in a good way. To give this a read.

The best fitness book on the market
Within a week I have almost finished reading this book. With his new book “The Art of Resilience” already on pre-order. I have enjoyed every minute of reading this book. If you are a fitness beginner, intermediate or expert you will find relevance in this book. Ross cuts through all of the glitz and glamour that the fitness Industry portrays and give you science based theories behind everything. Yes he does push his product company a little and yes he does speak about himself a lot but consider the position he is in as well... Brilliant read and I would recommend this book to any fitness enthusiast.

I've been a "fitness buff, gym rat, 'it's a lifestyle', junkie" for a little over 10 years now. I've gotten my personal training certification and a nutrition associates degree, I've explored as many fitness fads as have been put out there and tested man of them out on myself. Through years and years of work, I've found what has worked for me and been able to keep myself in decent shape. I'd consider myself in the top 20% of the health and wellness of people in the U.S. HOWEVER!!!! This book is the first book that I've read in a long time about the "fitness industry" in which I've gained any kind of useful knowledge! Ross is very insightful in his work and research. He makes all of his findings easy to understand and then put into practice. And overall, this is just a fun read. It's as entertaining as it is academic. I highly recommend this book to anyone getting started on a health and fitness journey and to anyone who has all the experience in the world (this book will prove you don't but Ross, in fact, does) in the industry. His adventures are extravagant and his achievements are far grander and a little insane if I'm being honest. But that's the type of person you have to be to write a book title "The World's Fittest Book". Check it out!
