This pump works great for my hydroponic tower garden.
This works great for my hydroponic tower garden. I like that it draws water from the bottom of the pump so you have to run absolutely dry for it to quit working. It's powerful and rugged. And I like that there is a threaded output on the top so I can just run a straight piece of PVC pipe up the middle of my garden.

Great for small fountain
Bought the 260 gph version to use for a simple fountain. Works great! Perfect for my application. Would have given 5 stars but the bottom of the pump was really difficult to put back on spent a lot of time futzing with it. Since it's being used in a fountain I shouldn't have to take apart to clean very often so can live with it. It's very nicely weighted, too. Good little pump will get another one to use to drain my patio ponds, I like that it has an auto shut off feature, unlike the one I'm using now to drain the patio ponds.

Great pump for a small patio fountain
We have a small patio fountain that came with a pump. The pump failed and I bought this to replace it. I knew this pump would be larger but I wanted to get a higher volume pump and also I liked the idea that this was a bottom dead pump. To get this to fit, I had to remove the aqua cover. The good news is, the cover is simple to remove and does not provide any real purpose other than the handle and possibly protection from if you drop a rock or something like that on the pump. I wasn’t worried about the accidental damage and found the pump to be more discrete without the aqua colored cover. The inside is all black and completely sealed. My favorite thing about the new setup is that the fountain can run almost dry and the pump keeps on going since it only needs about 1/2 inch of water to run. The previous pump required about 6 inches of water because the intake was on the side and was mounted much higher. One additional change I had to make was to add a filter since this pump does not really have a pre-filter. I went with a mesh bag purchased here on Amazon and added bio balls to the bag, also purchased on Amazon. This setup works much better than the small pre-filter that came with the old pump. The water stayed much clearer this summer.

Piece of Trash
I used this one time to try and clean my fish tank (no substrate, aka no gravel or sand or anything on the bottom that could get stuck in the pump) and it never turned on when I went to use it the second time. There was no reason it should have stopped working, because i ran it for 30 minutes the first time, unplugged it and took it out of the tank and stored it in a dry place under the tank stand, and came back 3 weeks later to do another water change, and the impeller wasn't turning when the electricity went through it. Never ran it dry (never plugged in when the pump was out of the water). Don't waste your money. By the time I tried to use it the second time, the return window had closed

Ultra quiet, plenty of head room, and it has a long cord. Great for home-brewing!
This is a replacement to another pump which I've been using for chilling my wort for home-brewing. This pump is also super quiet, but because it draws up water from the bottom, I no longer have to keep 4" of water in the sink as just 1/2" of water is fine. This pump feeds water through a 1/2" 50' copper coil to chill my wort and it drops it from 212F to 72F in only 3.5 minutes, less if I also put ice cubes in the sink (which I don't bother with any more). The long cord is especially handy, too!

Short life span but there is a fix
Purchased two for these units. They operate well and achieve their advertised metrics. But, as other reviews have noted, they are not necessarily long lived. The pump uses an impeller that rotates around a fixed plastic shaft. The shaft snaps which then binds up the impeller. One fix I applied was to replace the plastic shaft with a stainless steel one with a diameter of 3.5mm. If you're handy it's a fairly easy fix and should greatly extend the life of the pump.

This was smaller than expected and did the job really well for an outdoor fountain system. I was surprised how fast it was compared to a friends unit that was bigger. I hope it lasts and it likely will. I only use it once or twice a year.

Awesome choice I made to get this product and 25foot hose. I use this to drain my DWC (deep water culture) buckets, I run a hose 25 feet to the drain for water. There is great pressure but it doesn't blow hoses off, it's very quite, and works very well.
