VetriScience Calm & Confident Chews for Dogs, Peanut Butter, 60 Count

I just got these in today and of course, we got rain. So, we tried it out and worked great. My Chihuahua was calm after about 20 minutes. He's 17 pds so I only gave him one and it worked. I also have purchased some for my cat who is also afraid of rain. Worked well on her too. Neither really cared for the flavor but I broke it into pieces and gave as a treat and they took it. Good value and so far no side effects and all is well. Added information: I have tried these for my Frenchie for her anxiety and they work but leave her panting. So not sure I can recommend for this breed.

I have a very anxious and hyper and super sensitive dog. He isn't bothered by thunder or fireworks, but if he's bored or nervous or impatient, he'll walk over to the wall and chew a hole in it. Or in the wood floor. Or he'll get aggressive and viciously guard the pillows on the bed, or a table leg. Three trainers gave up on him. The vet said he has no physical issues, but recommended that he be on tranquilizers. Now I give him a Composure every 4 hours during the day, every day, and one half before he goes to bed at night. He's not docile or doped up (I tried another "calming bite" that contained tryptophan, and even one a day made him groggy and in distress), but his anxiety has lessened. He's not as aggressive. He listens to commands and obeys much more readily. He's more relaxed. I even think he's a bit more affectionate. My only complaint would be that they take a lot longer to take effect in the morning, but that's a small price to pay.

Was recommended by vet to help with anxiety and hyper active dog. Have tried other brands and options with little results. This vet recommended brand has helped. Not as much as hoped. But can notice a difference. Have been using for almost two weeks now. Defintiely is seen as treats rather than a treatment to my dog. No problem giving to her as would other treats.

This worked great for my senior dog Molly for 4th of July. Honestly, I was a bit afraid of the overall review I read about small dogs having explosive diarrhea or vomiting soon after taking. I was afraid to give this to her. As I looked at how much I should give her, she only weighs like 8 pounds. It said I should give her 1 chew. But that was what you also would give a dog that weighs up to 50lbs. I decided to only give her half a chew. That was the perfect dose for her. She didn’t shake, she wasn’t nervous, and she was so calm and slept. She was still awake and alert but without a care about the fireworks exploding outside. My recommendation is only give half a chew for small dogs.

Product did not help calm my dog down. Did both the recommended normal dose and the triple dose for extremely stressful situations. Both were ineffective and created no change in stress level. Also my dog did would not take the “treat” on its own. Had to place it in a peanut butter pill pocket for him to eat it.

I purchased the same product previously under the name COMPOSURE. It must have been a stronger formula, but I could not find it on Amazon again so I tried this one, under the name, CALM AND CONFIDENT CHEWS, the results were dramatically different. They did not seem to provide the same results as COMPOSURE. I will order the extra strength next time.

One of my dogs has horrible anxiety to fireworks & thunder and I've tried several OTC options before stumbling on these... which are by far the best! They kick in very quickly and truly take the edge off. She normally shakes/trembles and hides and 15-20 minutes after eating 2 of these she's laying on the couch(under her blanket) sleeping. Don't get me wrong, she's not perfectly content like my big guy who will walk through the neighborhood on the 4th of July, but she's comfortable. She happily takes them like she knows they are her happy pills. I've even given them to my neighbor for her JRT to try and now she buys them. I can't recommend them enough to anyone who has a dog that suffers with storm or firework phobias. Make sure to keep the bag sealed or they dry out. Midge is a 65lb Pittie mix and we give her 2 at the first sign of a big storm rolling in or when fireworks start. 🐾♥️

Both of my dogs love the flavor of this treat. It is a little pricey so I break it into smaller pieces to make it last longer and they think they are getting more than one treat. Seems to help with anxiety on my younger Pomeranian. My older dog is pretty laid back anyway but this is her favorite treat.

Gave my dog loose stools instead of calmness.

***This is not a paid review***. I got these becajsr a friend swore by them so I decided to give them a try. When we brought the rescue puppy home, my older dog was really struggling. I gave him a chew/ day, as instructed and within 48 hours we could see that he had a calmer demeanor and a gentler disposition towards the puppy. Now it is the puppy who is taking them to help him go through a very active adolescence. I have tried these chews for different reasons and they have proven to work.

Outrageously overpriced. There are better products for a fraction of the cost.

I really wanted this to work. They're recommended by my vet. Well my dog is picky. He just won't eat it. I'm trying to lace it with peanut butter hut he still won't eat it. . can't evaluate the product if he refuses to eat it. He is a picky eater ....
