Hard- Black Band: This band adds up to 49lbs (22 kgs) of resistance. Medium- Pink Band: This band ads up to 32lbs (13.5kgs) of resistance. Well I'm not sure what you mean by a senior but there are three different sizes... So if you are just starting out I don't know how active you are... But if you're a very beginner you can find the band loops that are kind of made out of like some kind of rubber which work good too if you're just starting out
