The ideal mid-priced portable air con unit
We last bought a portable air conditioning unit 15 yrs ago (not a Meaco), and still consider it to be one of our best ever purchases, but we decided to replace it as modern units are smaller and more efficient. We have not been disappointed! This Meaco MeacoCool Pro is far better than our old unit; it is more powerful and yet smaller, and is a neat, attractive unit to sit in any room. It cools our bedroom very quickly in advance of bedtime.Portable air con units are never quiet, but this one is significantly quieter than our old one, and even with the old one the noise did not disturb our sleep. This new unit has a "sleep mode", which quietens the fan and dims the display - very helpful. The Meaco has all the functionality you would expect - it has a timer to set it for when to turn on or turn off ( we usually set it to turn off 2hrs after we go to bed), a remote control and better yet, it can be controlled via your phone using the Meaco app, which was a doddle to set up.The two alternative window seals provided are the ideal solution to stop warm air coming back in through an open window and so make the unit more efficient and cheaper to run. I used the flexible one because we have a hinged window, and it was very quick and easy to fit and forms a great seal. The length of the power cable and exhaust tube are perfect, and the lightness of the exhaust tube makes it much easier to manipulate into place the the thicker, more rigid on in my old unit.I was impressed to see that the Meaco comes with spare bungs, and a drainage tube - a feature lacking on my old unit that is a great addition. I also like that the Meaco warns you via the screen that it is time to drain. My old unit just stopped working and beeped all night once it was full.In terms of portability, it is very easy to move from room to room because it has smooth castors, even over thick carpet, but the unit is heavy so moving it up or down stairs is a bit of a chore. Having said that, I'm 69 and I took it upstairs without drama using the hand-hold recesses on either side of the unit.In summary, the Meaco MeacoCool Pro is attractive, efficient, relatively quiet, reasonably portable, has great functionality and is relatively cheap to run.I definitely recommend it.

Works a treat
This is excellent very simple to use and very effective brings our main bedroom down from 26 degrees to 19 easily / farm house cottage south facing smallish room it is quite loud even on the sleep function but taking the heat out of the room for a few hours before bed really helps get to sleepItâs quite heavy but the build quality is really good

Brilliant, wish I'd bought them earlier!
Great air conditioners! My room is lovely and cool, the attachments provided fitted our window perfectly. It is a bit noisy but I love white noise, so it actually helps me sleep.Love it đ

It produces cold air!
I have difficulty sleeping if the room temperature is too warm and particularly so if the outside weather is what we in UK call âmuggyâ. (High humidity.) it works nicely, has easy connection to WiFi but as many others have stated you couldnât really sleep with it on. I find that operating it for an hour before bedtime is sufficient. The nylon zipped thing for attachment to window really is not a thing of beauty so I decided to make my own using thin plywood and a few clever fixings. I can remove this completely in a matter of seconds so that I can completely close the window during the day. This suits my needs but may not be suitable for everyone. Mine is neater and holds the exhaust duct firmly more than the nylon bag which I thought to be an ugly solution. Also. Most modern UK houses will have upper floor bedrooms which have inward opening tilt and turn windows and I found it extremely difficult to get the nylon bag system to fit the inward opening window and the wall thickness at the jambs. I can readily make things like this and it works but for some it may prove difficult. The alternative I briefly considered was buying a diamond core bit and cutting a hole in my external wall. As it is only likely to be used for a couple of months at height of summer I thought this was a bit drastic and I couldnât find a readily available capping system which would be needed when the unit was disconnected. So far am pleased with the results of my tweak and the unit doing the job.

Almost good but NOT quiet at all
The media could not be loaded. Maeco Pro Series 9000. The unit cools a small room very quickly which is great. Unfortunately, thatâs where the positives end. The unit is pretty heavy for being âportableâ with very shallow finger gaps to carry it, I wouldnât advise anyone regularly moves this up/down stairs. The unit is SO loud I couldnât believe it, I contacted the seller to double check I hadnât missed a setting because itâs described as âwhisper quietâ which is a complete lie. On the lowest setting it measured at 70 decibels and made it unusable in my home office as thereâs no way you could concentrate with it on for long periods of time never mind have online meetings. The vent on the front is supposed to open automatically when you turn it on which it didnât on ours, not sure if we have a faulty unit, waiting to hear back from the seller. 2 stars purely because the cooling function works well but pretty disappointed as weâve had a few Maeco products and always loved them, poor show on this one.
