You can wrap it around your wrists to shorten the length, which increases the effort to work with it and also increase the workout. These are very packable because they pack flat, so they are terrific for travel, and take up no space in a suitcase or carry-on bag. Over a long period of time, mine have sometimes snapped from so much use - but the shorter lengths can still be used, and I do. Definitely recommend Theraband to people who like to work out regularly.
