i guess you could. bt it would be more efficient to just change the chuck.

It's a SDS shank. Fits most SDS Hammer drills.

Does this work with sds max!

It works with sds But I definitelt do not recommend it I used it once and when reversed the bit spun in half. looked decent but was not.

Can this fit into a 3/8" drill chuck?

Yes. The shaft that is threaded into the chuck will fit into a 3/8" drill chuck. In my case, I took the chuck off the shaft and installed it on my 1/2" drill that had a worn out chuck. The chuck on your 3/8" drill should tell you what it is threaded for so you can tell if it is a suitable replacement.
