Relive the Magic
I played each of the main Dragon Quest games since the release of the original Dragon Warrior, and I've enjoyed each one. I was curious to try this one given the overall refresh of gameplay, graphics, and story.Overall I'm impressed.Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake provides an opportunity to revisit the iconic Dragon Quest III but in a modern and refreshing manner. The gameplay is smooth and fun, yet retains the subtle quirkiness of the original, such as character movements. The game is smooth, but not overly so, and therefore is reminiscent of an old school RPG.I'm only a couple hours in, but this is a great game which I look forward to playing through to completion.Besides the iconic nature of the Dragon Quest series and the general refresh, there are a number of great features.First is the frequent autosave - this allows you to play the game in smaller increments if desired, without seeking out a designated save point. Second, the customization at the beginning is also nice - this allows you to select among three difficulty levels, the most difficult, Draconian feels reminiscent of the difficulty of old school RPGs which is a great touch and offers a fresh challenge for those revisiting Dragon Quest III. Even better, this may be changed at any point throughout the adventure. Lastly, I really like the bite-sized tutorials sprinkled throughout the adventure. These are instructive, serve as useful reminders, and are seamlessly integrated within the main quest.Overall Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake is a nostalgic experience for existing fans of the franchise, but is also a great jumping on point for those new to the series. It incorporates fresh features while remaining true to the original.Highly recommended.

A definitive Remake for all ages to enjoy!
From the visuals and beautiful crafted art that pays respect to the original, to the quality of life in gameplay mechanics to making the experience more convenient. A new yet familiar adventure awaits!A New Character Class, additional bosses, monsters and enemies that were exclusive to the Game Boy and Super Famicom versions now mixed into this remake, plus new content additions help to shake up combat. This expands to details in combat to make it faster and to items and spells that have been rework and/or new to further the experience. To those who love turn base JRPGs and what to learn about why certain franchises are praised, this is a definite one to check out not just for the history lesson but for the simple yet fun factor as well.New System changes include:- You Now Save in Churches- Change the Difficulty Level- Story Progress and Objectives Bars- Added "Rest" Option to Inns- Equip Up to Two Accessories- Some Personalities Have Different Names- Customization For Characters is Available- Help Feature Available in Adventure LogsFrom new side content, more side stories and scenes to give the story a more larger context view of events. This helps in only adding to scenes while respecting the original vision in narrative. This is definitely a definitive version worth experiencing.Square Enix and Artdink have done a beautiful job in creating a modernized version for first time players while respecting and adding to the past. Which by definition, is what a remake should strive for.

The DQ3 experience
It's a nostalgic game that reminds me of my brother playing it on the GBC. It's retro, but it matches the expectations with the changes. It has a lot of what I admire in RPGs, and I'm happy to see it again. It's a game I've had on my to-play list for a while. I like its 3D-2D graphics, but they only make the adventure even more interesting. For now, I'm playing it and seeing every change they made to the game. I hope everyone likes it as much as I do.

One of the Greatests RPGs in a Magnificent Remastered Edition
A game that defined the genre of Japanese Role-Playing Games, Square Enix outdid themselves with this remastered version. Stunning 2D/3D graphics and a fantastic musical score combined with the classic story and solid turn-based strategy of Dragon Quest III, gamers familiar with the game and new fans of the genre each have something great to look forward to with this version. My highest recommendation.

Awesome job
A very good on updating this awesome game. They made it better. Has some new options for gameplay, mainly for new players to the the old school turn based games to ease them into it or so they can simply enjoy it at their own pace. Either way if you a retro gamer or trying this for the first time. Worth every penny

Great game
Arrived in time. I played the Super Famicom version and the Seeds of Salvation versionf on Nintendo Switch. This game is more or less exactly the same but with a new coat of beautiful HD-2D paint. The new Monster Wrangler class is very good.Other than graphics it doesn't do too much to give a new experience to someone who has played any other version of the game. Really wish the game had camera rotation implemented, feels very rudimentary and makes it hard to see what's just south of your position. Also, the characters sprites in the overworld only have 4 directions instead of 8 so when moving diagonally it looks very clunky. Character sprites during battle are essentially static so they don't actually look like they're doing any fighting which is a shame considering how good battle sprites looked in games like Octopath Traveler which has the same HD-2D style.
