Tiny but mighty ...tldr at the end
I can do a long video review of this camera and all the others like it from instant 360 and other companies because I've owned so many at this point. Here's the quick and dirty. The camera itself is waterproof The case is not. That's something to keep in mind when purchasing this camera. The second thing to keep in mind is that it has an internal battery and internal memory and also that it cannot connect to you an external mic. Those are all the downfalls of the camera but the major upside is it size. It's about the size of your thumb. I have The previous model as well which had the case that looks like an iPod case and in a way I like that case better for what this is worth however the screen does make a difference because it allows you to see what you're shooting. The best part of the screen exclusive to insta360 is that it flips up and around so you can see yourself when you're shooting. This is less important on this camera because you can take the camera out of the pod but still it's a great feature to have. This is like the baby brother of the Ace pro model. It has some of the same features but not all of them. The advantage of this camera is that it comes out of the pod and you can attach it literally to anything and get amazing shots. I use it while rock climbing and attach it like a headlamp and you get great POV shots. In fact you can get great POV shots anywhere in it anytime. I've seen people attach it to their pets and basically get POV of their pets walking around or what it's like to be that pet. That's where this camera really shines is those POV shots. That being said it also does shoot in 4K and also it has a mode that allows you to shoot both horizontal and portrait at the same time and choose later do you want it for YouTube or social media. In addition the app that comes with the insta360 products is incredible. I'm was a huge insta360 fan boy from day one and camera one even though the company refuses to show me any love with test products or anything like that. One other negative not that I think about it is that the pendant that came with the camera broke and when I contacted insta360 they never really did anything to resolve it. I actually have another from the previous camera so it didn't bother me but I have read online that their customer service is lacking which I've seen for myself but like I said I like their products. I have at least six or seven of their cameras and each one has a different function and has been innovative for what they do. The x series 360 cameras are amazing as they shoot in 360 and then you can edit later what you want to frame. The downside of that is the post-production editing which for me means tbs of the footage from 92 countries which I never edited because I'm too lazy. Enter this camera and it's older brother which allowed me to get quick shots for social media with less editing and also The app itself has AI editing which makes things a little bit easier to pose quick videos which you can export immediately to your phone. Again not to be negative but I want to be clear the real issue with this camera is the battery and the internal storage. If either fail your camera is done you can't swap them out and as I said the action pod itself is not waterproof so you cannot take this swimming like the x series or the Ace series. That said even the pod is very small and can slide in your pocket Even have it with you at all times and the battery life is not that bad. I would say you can get probably two and a half hours of shooting out of this camera on a charge and it charges very quickly. It's just not an all day shooting camera unless you need it to be which is what happened to me last month in Mauritius. As I said I also had an Ace pro....had. jumping off of 50ft waterfall had us part ways when it dislodged from it's mount. The Ace series is like this camera's Big brother which shoots an 8K and is absolutely gorgeous and amazing it also has the flip-up screen but the camera does not come out of the pod like in this camera. It is also a bit larger and heavier but for me on that trip was my major vlogging camera because like this camera it required little editing and also had a suite of AI editing tools through the app unlike the x we still required me to go back through all the footage and not only look at what I saw in One direction but also the whole 360 and reframe everything which feels like would take forever. The x series is great if you're doing something amazing and want to get an amazing Hollywood like shot where you can reframe but as a daily vlogging camera for me at least it's a bit overwhelming to have to do so much post-production. The ace series gives you that clear vlogging and scenery shooting camera for vacations and has swappable batteries and memory cards and can shoot at 8K rather than just 4K. Now the reality is shooting at 8K is probably overkill in fact should you get 4K is generally overkill because most people watch content on their phone and they're not seeing it even at 1080. That said if you're a real stickler shooting at 4K and 8k allow you to zoom in and get all the details and not have " blown out pictures " or whatever else people who have really good eyes for these things and say. Personally all of the footage from these cameras look amazing to me especially when you're climbing and doing action sports. That said that is where the go series really shines because it's so small you can fit it in places where you normally cannot fit a camera. For example I went walking with lions and they specifically said no cameras allowed but I was able to attach the go to my cap and no one cared and all I had to do was touch the button and you got FPV of walking with lions save with swimming with sharks skydiving etc it's such a small camera that you literally can just stick it anywhere and the magnets are pretty good although I became weary after my incident in Mauritius. After jumping off the waterfall and losing the ace due to the faulty amount and having the x stopped working because even though it's waterproof it had to be sealed and it wasn't properly sealed this go became my only camera for the rest of the trip and it worked. I was not able to carry it in the water and had to keep the pod in the waterproof bag however it was able to take over The job of his Lost Big brother The Ace and continue as my main vlogging camera. The only thing was that I had to do more judicious with my battery use and how much I shot because of the smaller internal memory. I personally had the 128 GB unit which when using the more memory intensive modes still gave me over two and a half hours of video but my recommendation would be to buy the larger unit because again the memory is not replaceable and if you're not like me who buys new cameras all the time and you want to keep this for a while it's better to have more and not need it than to have less and wish you'd spent the Little bit extra in my opinion. Tldr this is a great camera with awesome use cases and some limitations but I would highly recommend for a casual user or someone who wants to use it to get interesting shots or as an action camera to get unique points of view.

Really Impressed!
I have used many types of action cameras over the years from various manufacturers and over the last few years, I continue to be more and more impressed with advances that Insta360 have been making. The build quality of this camera, like many of their devices is excellent. As soon as I unpacked it, I was impressed by the solid build and little bit of heft it has, you can quickly tell that is is not just a cheap plastic toy, it feels very well built. The user interface is also something that Insta360 seems to knock out of the park with how easy the menu system and setup is, this includes the responsiveness of the menus, everything is very snappy when navigating around, no lag like I have seen with GoPro in the past. This ease of use extends to the app as well which is very well polished and the connectivity with my iPhone has been flawless so far, no "failed to connect" type errors that I have had with previous cameras. I have not had a chance yet to use it extensively, but the video quality of everything that I have captured in 4K looks very good for a camera that is so tiny! It is worth mentioning that this probably isn't a replacement for a more traditional action camera for some users because of its use of internal memory and no swappable batteries, but I knew that going into it and wanted it for specific uses because I do also have the Ace Pro from Insta360 as my traditional action camera. The only problem I have had so far and might be something that can be improved with firmware is the charging between the camera and the pod. If you leave the camera stored in the pod for any length of time, it seems to continue to try to charge the camera which is just wasting energy and you will see the battery life drop. This has not been much of an issue when just out and about using it, but if you fully charge it one day and leave the camera stored in the pod for a few days, you will be disappointed to go back to it and find a lot of the battery life drained from that last charge. For that reason, when not in use, I leave the camera out of the pod. Once I figured out that it was doing that, I learned how to work around it and it has not been much of an issue but would be nice to see improved in a future firmware update. Overall, I love the camera so far for everyday casual use, I am glad I held out on buying one of the previous versions and waited for this updated 4K version.

Great camera!
Fantastic little camera. Nice colours, sharpnes, easy to set up. Perfect for POV shots. I am using it to record my IPSC practical shooting competition and training and its perfect! Small size factor with 4k video make this camera great choise for this tipe of video.

Positive 1st experience with action cameras!
So I purchased this a month ago and have had a lot of fun with it. This was my first experience with action cameras and I think this was performed great. The tiny camera shoots in 4K for about a half hour by itself and even longer with the docking pod that works as a camera charging station, a control hub, and camera viewing screen. The accessories that it comes with are the charge cable, unscrew-able lens guard, magnet pendant and hat clip that allows POV (Point Of View) chest and cap mounting, and a magnetic (and metal safety clasp) pivot stand with a reusable adhesive base that you can [temporarily] stick to surfaces. Video quality is great with the resolution going up to 4K at 30 FPS (Frames Per Second). But I noticed this tiny camera gets pretty hot while filming, and it does not last for very long without a charge. Other cons I noticed is that it doesn’t sound good in the wind, as there is a lot of wind noise (even with a wind muffler), and the low light visibility is not that great but honestly I don’t fault it for that because of what it is and what it can do. So what can it do? Well, the biggest pros I can think of off the top of my head are that it can fit in small spaces and the camera itself is waterproof. This leaves millions of opportunities for new ideas with access to new places to film from, like taking weird camera shots to improve creative content. The docking pod is not waterproof, but no biggie; I don’t always need to use the docking pod when filming with the camera anyway, especially since I don’t intend to swim with it. Besides, there are other cameras better designed for underwater usage. In conclusion, this goes above and beyond what I originally thought I needed it for. The accessories allow fantastic flexibility in usage, and improved performance with the Go 3S. They enable it to be more than just a camera, but an experience with limitless opportunities abound. Sure it may not have a big sensor for good low light visibility or perform better than any of the flagship cameras to any standard, but I do not expect it to. I like it because of its size and what it does for me. Together with the ability to create new and interesting content and not to mention the user-friendly editing app, I am expressly satisfied and feel encouraged to explore with my Go 3S. What’s more is that I fully intend to get more Insta360 accessories and to seek out their future product releases. This was my first action camera experience and from it I can wholeheartedly recommend this product for photographers, content creators, vloggers, or any picture artists that are looking for something unique to tinker with.

Forces you to download a bloated app to use the camera
In order to activate the camera you have to download their video editing app. To be clear, the camera doesn't actually need this app to function, they just don't unlock the camera that you already paid for until you do this. On top of this, the app itself is terrible. They try to shove a bunch of services down your throat before they even let you activate the camera. I had hoped to use the camera on a shoot, and instead, because there was no reception it was nothing but a brick with lights, all because this company wanted to harvest my data.

Terrific POV video camera for sports, if slightly expensive.
Purchased this for point-of-view videos of my competitive shooting. Works well, and I like how it is small enough to clip to the brim of my baseball cap. Video quality is very good, and battery life for my use seems adequate. Only things I wish were different: - Would nice if it were slightly lighter. I find that I have to tighten my cap to keep the camera from causing my hat to start to dip down over my eyes - Would be nice if you could lock the hat carrier into position so that you don't have to guess if it is lined up correctly. You can verify the field of view through the included action pod, but being able to lock the hat mount would provide a fast, simple alternative. - Would like to be able to record slo-mo in the highest resolution I think the camera is slightly expensive for what you get, but I definitely enjoy using it.

13 months later…
I’ve been using the Insta360 GO 3S for a little over a year now, mainly for documenting work tasks as I move between different locations and buildings. It’s basically become a hands free way for me to capture what I’m doing without thinking about the camera itself. The biggest thing that stands out is the weight and mounting system. It’s so small that you forget you’re wearing it and the magnetic mount is honestly the feature that makes it usable in real situations. I can snap it onto metal surfaces for quick POV shots without really messing too much with it. That alone has changed how I document work. Battery performance has stayed solid over time. It still holds up well for long sessions, and I haven’t had any sudden shutdowns during recording. One thing I did notice is that if it sits for a few days, it will slowly drain, so I usually top it off before starting a day of filming just to be safe. I do a full USB charge before using it if it’s been sitting. After that, I rely on topping it off as needed. It’s one of those systems where you learn its habits over time rather than expecting it to behave like a traditional camera battery. Low light is where it struggles the most. When I’m moving between indoor and outdoor environments, especially fast transitions, the footage can get grainy and motion blur shows up pretty quickly. In daylight, it looks sharp and clean, but once lighting drops, you can definitely tell the limits of the small sensor. Storage can fill up faster than expected. I usually run a larger capacity setup and offload through the the quick reader and desktop workflow. Transfer speeds aren’t the fastest when dealing with longer 4K sessions, but it’s manageable if you’re not rushing. Durability has been better than expected. It’s taken normal daily use over time without any hardware issues or failures. It does get hot during longer recording sessions and it has shut down on my from time to time. You just need to lower the recording quality to 2.7K from 4K. One thing to keep in mind is you’re really paying for the size and mounting flexibility. That’s the tradeoff. You’re not getting flagship level low light performance or fast data handling, but you are getting something you can actually wear and use all day without thinking about it. For my use case, it’s been reliable for documenting real work situations. Not perfect, but consistent enough that I still reach for it regularly instead of a larger action camera.

Overheating significantly-Updated to five stars
This is a nice little camera — very versatile and convenient, with great picture and video quality. The video editing app could be better; I personally prefer using VivaVideo instead. A big issue is that it overheats significantly and very quickly, pausing charging until it cools down. I tried contacting customer service for help but had no success in resolving the issue. The support team replied suggesting steps to reduce overheating and informed me that stopping after about 20 minutes due to overheating is considered “within the normal range.” This isn’t a total dealbreaker, but it’s very annoying and inconvenient. I’ll keep it because it’s for my travels and not for professional use, but this is definitely an area that needs improvement. Updated Review — 5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I originally left a lower review due to overheating issues with my Insta360 Go 3s, but I’m updating it to 5 stars because of the excellent customer service I received from Insta360. Eddie from their support team personally reached out to me, asked for detailed information about the problem, and offered to replace my camera with the Insta360 Go 3 Ultra. He was incredibly kind, patient, and professional — even though I couldn’t return the old camera until almost a month later, the process was smooth and easy once I did. The replacement was sent promptly, and I’m very impressed by how attentive and responsive the team has been. I haven’t had the chance to fully test the Ultra yet, so I can’t review it in depth, but I’m very grateful for the way Insta360 handled everything. Excellent customer service can truly make all the difference — thank you, Eddie and the Insta360 team! 🙌

Must be willing to accept the cons (Revised)
*** Revised Review *** My initial review is below. Read before my revised review. Disclaimer: I have taken the time to update my review after using the insta360 go 3s with a battery pack. This means purchasing an additional accessory is required. As outlined on my initial review, the device on its own has a few flaws that was disappointing.... However after using the 3s battery pack, I find it solves some of the big issues. I would highly recommend purchasing the battery pack alongside this product to get the best experience. Pro 1) The battery pack doubles the battery life outside the action pod making it approximately 1 hour continuous recording which opens up more potential for a single charge. The battery pack can serve as another battery so very useful to have. 2) I did not notice the heat as much with the battery pack attached compared to without one. I believe it is because the heat is emitted further away from the backing. I feel the magnetic connection to the pendant is stronger with the battery pack (look at Con #1 for some details) New Cons 1) While the camera is attached to the battery pack, it loses the ability to attach to magnetic surfaces. HOWEVER you can still attach to the pendant so it is not the biggest con. With proper battery management, you should be able to get shots that requires magnetic attachment on surfaces and then recharge via the battery pack or action pod separately. If that is not enough, getting other accessories like a tripod would probably be required. 2) the battery pack only comes in white colour so it does not fit my all black aesthetics but a small price to pay for the additional battery. I would like to see a black option become available in the future. Revised Overall Review The camera on its own still has its flaws but considering insta360 is trying to offer a new type of product it has a lot of potential. I can see with the attachments what it can be which is very promising... I'm sure one can argue why not build in the features but then it will lose its identity and will not create the new category this camera can be. This camera is unlike other action cameras on the market and provides a way to capture the moment in its own unique way. I highly recommend for those looking to get something that can be used daily with minimal set up; a great conversation starter; lightweight and versatile; and to capture genuine candid moments from your perspective handsfree. *** Initial Review *** Rated 3/5 stars Hear me out... Battery life sucks... Camera/action pod overheats like crazy... Image quality isn't the best... With all that being this camera has a lot of potential... The hat clip and the magnetic necklace gives lots of new perspective and you can hardly feel it attached to your shirt/hat. This is not a cheap buy but it is a new category product that I hope to see improvements (especially battery life) in the future. Bought this for the purpose of my Japan trip and i'm expecting to use this while walking around to capture random moments that i might not pull out my camera/phone for. Hoping this will add different perspective to my vacation photos. Pro - Size. Can barely notice it is hanging on your shirt/hat - built in magnet backing (very strong) can stick on magnetic surfaces Con - Short battery life - Overheats - quality is average I hope in the future the battery life can last more than 30 minutes of continuous recording (outside the action pod) and have a way to reduce the amount of heat generated. I understand the small form factor makes this nearly impossible but that would be the only way to upgrade from this version. I will be keeping this because i think i can still use this regularly.
