Can't get this to work. Any tips?

We've only ever used the Gazillion Giant bubble solution, when playing with this, as I've found it's a slightly thicker consistency to other bubble solutions which helps when making larger bubbles. My children have never had an issue making giant bubbles, I just make sure there is plenty of solution in the tray and that they hold the wand at the right angle before moving around with it. If it's windy then they just hold out their arm and let the wind do all the work. Keeps them entertained for hours. Hope this helps : )

Is this worth paying £10 for? To entertain 3-5 year olds at an outdoor birthday party

I would choose one with lots of holes as it’s hard to make bubbles
