Q: Does it come with instructions?

It didn't have instructions - I watched some youtube videos. It was pretty easy, but I think it would light faster with a separate coal starter. I liked it except for one thing, it wasn't packaged very well. Try it and return it if you are unhappy. Mine had a ding in the back, but I kept it anyway. I will use mine on my back patio for over the summer and possibly consider a better one later. One suggestion I saw was to extend the exhaust chimney with something from an auto body shop, an exhaust piece (take the chimney piece to match size). I might do that, it is a bit smokey and an extension would be a nice improvement.

Q: Can this one be used for soup. As well

I plan to purchase packets of dry soups, cider, cocoa, tea, coffee. Easy enough to be flexible. I bet it would work with one which doesn't have two spouts. I didn't notice the interior has a separate section (approx 8 oz?) which you could reserve for drinks and put soup in the rest, but it would be a pain to clean that way.
