A Colorful Upgrade for Gamers (and Non-Gamers)
The Razer Aether Light Bulb is a smart bulb with a twist - it utilizes Razer's Chroma RGB for a wide range of colors and lighting effects. Here's a breakdown of its pros and cons:Pros:Chroma RGB Lighting: This is the main draw for Razer fans. With 16.8 million colors and various effects, you can create a truly immersive gaming environment or set the mood for movie nights.Smart Home Integration: Works with both Google Home and Amazon Alexa for voice-controlled lighting adjustments.Razer Gamer Room App: This app allows for unified control of Razer's smart home devices, including setting schedules and automation.Standard Bulb Size (E26/E27): Fits in most existing light fixtures.Decent Brightness (800 Lumens): Provides enough light for most rooms.Cons:Gamer-Centric Design: While the RGB lighting is cool, it might not appeal to everyone.Price: More expensive than standard smart bulbs.Bluetooth Connectivity: While Bluetooth is common for smart bulbs, some prefer Wi-Fi for faster response times.Razer Ecosystem Dependence: To get the full functionality, you might need other Razer products for the Razer Gamer Room App to shine.Overall:The Razer Aether Light Bulb is a solid option for gamers who want to extend their Chroma RGB setup beyond their PC. It offers the usual smart bulb features with the addition of extensive color customization. However, the price tag and gamer-focused design might make it less attractive for casual users.

Defective Bulb Failed After 24 Hours
Failed after 24 hours. It disconnected and turned off on its own, then would not power up and could not re-connect. Probably better to buy directly from Razer.

Razer Synapse control is what makes this interesting
This RGB bulb is somewhat mis-marketed. Despite being only minimally mentioned, its best feature is direct control within Razer's Synapse PC software. That integrates the bulb into your gaming rig’s lighting setup, including possible sound-, screen-, and game-related effects. If that doesn’t interest you, then just go with a cheaper smart bulb. Otherwise, read on.Installation was straightforward but not entirely trouble-free. Razer's Gamer Room app initially failed to discover/configure the Aether, but a factory reset resolved that. The bulb only connects to 2.4GHz WiFi, which is disappointing given the high price and that 5GHz networks have existed for over a decade. The Gamer Room app provides basic RGB controls and routines, like any other smart bulb. Things get much more interesting if you add the Aether to Razer Synapse on your PC. The bulb is controlled alongside your other gaming lights (keyboard, mouse, etc.), and Chroma-enabled games can use lighting to set a mood and/or react to in-game events. The effects vary greatly in quality from game to game, and some produce distractive flickering on the bulb. Razer could do a better job of ensuring and documenting compatibility with the Aether.Synapse also offers display-reactive ambient lighting and music visualization. The same Chroma features work with other smart bulb brands, but Aether’s advantage is simplicity - no need to setup and run any bridge programs. For example, the connector software for my Lifx bulbs hasn’t been updated in years, despite some connectivity and functionality quirks. That’s a non-issue with this bulb, as it’s supported directly.Overall, the Aether has a lot of potential for gamers who have (or want to build) a Synapse-controlled lighting setup that immersively extends into your room. That said, it could be improved with 5GHz WiFi, along with more consistent and better-validated game support.

Looks great in my gaming room
I ordered this item because I wanted something to match my gaming room while I game. Overall, its a great item that I don't have any complaints about, and the setup is easy as long as the instructions are followed. Please make sure when you are attempting to find your barcode that you look at the bulb itself, and also make sure your device is connected to the 2.4 GHz network. This can be done either by default, by checking your router's manual, or by contacting your router's manufacturer. Overall, the product works perfectly! I would also like to add that you will need to download the "Razer Gamer Room" app.

No LAN support
If you want this to work, first you have to install a useless app on your phone, then connect it to your computer using 2.4 GHz wifi. Because we all know gaming on 2.4 is the best way, definitely not a wired connection. So even if you set it up on your wifi, you can't use them if your motherboard doesn't have wifi connectivity. I contacted Razer support and they told me, "It is an expected behavior you are connected to a network using Ethernet cable since PC did not utilize the same 2.4Ghz connection as your mobile phone."Actually gave me a headache trying to squeeze in room for a network adapter, replacing my usb hub, then switching back... Connection lost. I'm going to lose my GOURD!!!!!

Would not recommend
A picture says a thousand words.Note the cover of the box, note the bulb on the box and the name printed on the bulb. Note the shape of the bulb on the box. Got it?Now take a look at the bulb I’m holding. That’s what came in the box.I don’t need to say anything else.

Excellent matter compatibility
These Razer lights are great! I have used many 'smart lamps' over the years and I have found that execution is the most important part. These have a flexible voltage rating and are nice and bright at 800 lumens. They don't put out too much heat but the application to control them is fantastic and works well alongside apple homekit (matter) integration. If you want to support Razer and also have a good setup, this is a great option!
