The most helpful item purchased for hip replacement surgery
Of all the tools purchased for my hip replacement surgery, the Vive Raised Toilet Seat has been the most helpful. After using a standard height toilet before coming home from the hospital, I know for certain I would not have wanted to be without this seat at home! The 3.5 inch additional height is just right. It installed easily & we put our current seat/lid combo right on top of it. It fits our standard toilet perfectly & is very secure. This model does not come with bars but the toilet is so close to the sink, grab bars were not needed. And having a walker for the first couple of weeks would have made bars moot anyway. It is easy to clean as well. Just spray with cleaner/disinfectant & wipe dry. Surgery was 5 weeks ago & so far, this seat is holding up perfectly. Make sure you measure your toilet before purchase to determine if you need standard or elongated. Worth the price & would recommend this elevated toilet seat. Especially if you are having hip replacement surgery.

Very nice product - just what we needed
This is the 3rd 'riser' we'd tried and so far it is the best by far. The installation of the riser itself was simple, although the seat from our toilet didn't make it overly easy. Our seat had connectors that were split with the attachment washers for the bolts completing the assembly. The bolts for the Vive were too large for this attachment assembly, however there was plenty of room to enlarge the holes on the toilet seat assembly and after doing that and using the seat assembly instead of the provided washers I was able to get a good tight fit that doesn't move around. It's simplicity and convenience make it a very worthwhile purchase.

Durability may not be the best/cheap hardware too
Update to my earlier review to add: Also noted: I needed to replace a broken nylon washer on the seat hinge that I had before I bought the Vive riser, and just now found out how bad the rusty hardware Vive supplies! The long bolt was rusty, as was the metal washer, and wing nut, and that I had some difficulty removing because of the corrosion. So, if you do buy the Vive riser, then it would be a good idea to coat the hardware with something that might help rust from forming like silicone spray or at least petroleum jelly. I'm sure there are others better suited too. This happened in only 3 years of use, so beware of this seemingly minor detail that can bite you later if you aren't aware like me, until you are! We have had this for a little over 3 years (bought 2020), and it has served us well, except that it started to deform a bit with dimples in the top from the seat after a short while, and then maybe a year after, it started to show cracks in the top on either side where the toilet seat rested. I bought this because it was rated to 350 pounds, and that's about what I was at my heaviest weight, so it should have held up better than it has. And now, the price is almost double of what I paid 3 years ago, though that does fluctuate a bit on Amazon. I like the Vive company, but will not buy this one again, but will go with the OasisSpace riser instead this time, even though it's only rated to 300 pounds, but I am a little below that now, so it should be fine. And the OasisSpace riser is at least $25 less than the Vive. Hopefully it is made a little better than the Vive for durability. But these hinged risers are definitely the way to go, since they are so much easier to keep them clean on the underside. And my knees have never been more thankful too! Initial revue below: I bought this mainly because of a bad knee that was making it so hard to stand up after sitting on a too low toilet. This is a real blessing, and just what I needed. That 3-1/2 inches makes a big difference! Also, this one was one of the only ones rated to 350 pounds, so my 325 weight was easily covered. It is very sturdy, though you do need to tighten the screws while holding the wingnut below the bowl, every now and again, as it will loosen a little through use. It doesn't become unstable, but shifts a little sometimes, so it's good to keep that screwdriver handy and not let it get too loose. The handy hinged version like these is the way to go with a riser, for sure. No doubt this will probably help some with back problems and hip problems too, if they hurt when you get up or sit down. Orthopedic doctors offices sometimes have higher chairs for those with problems in their waiting rooms, I have discovered, thankfully. So the height increase does work! This seems by all indications to be a quality product, that is built very well, is easy to install, use and clean, and will last a long time. What is also nice is that it allows the full size of the bowl to be usable, unlike those cheaper clamped on versions that have a much smaller opening to the bowl because of their design. We have one like that in the basement that will probably get tossed now, and I did not like using it, nor trying to clean it or having to remove it to clean under that kind of seat riser. You can add handles to this, or maybe better, the portable one that looks like a walker if you still need help rising after use. Those do not need to be installed, like the handles that can be added to the seat. I plan on adding that sometime, if needed. When back trouble hits, sometimes sitting down is painful too, along with getting up. So assistance handles would help. But this Vive toilet seat riser is the smart first step to helping yourself.

This riser is a MUST have!!!!
My mother is a stroke patient. When she comes to visit; she relies on my help when she goes to the bathroom. Sadly our commode is too short for her. I needed a quick fix for the situation. After looking at 36 inch commodes that started at $200; my sister suggested getting a toilet seat riser. I read a few reviews that said that this seat is unstable and wobbly but the other reviews were really good; so I decided to try it. I’m glad I did! I installed this riser myself with no problems whatsoever. The riser is not unstable nor is it wobbly. The bolts have to be tightened so that it doesn’t move and the pads on the bottom also keep it from sliding. It’s also very easy to clean. I just spray a little Clorox Clean-Up on a paper towel and wipe it down. Thanks to this riser; my mother doesn’t have to sit so low and now has her independence and privacy back! I HIGHLY recommend this riser. It’s a game changer!!

Good but with 1 flaw
The Vive Raised Toilet Seat functions as advertised and is easily installed. I purchased it to replace a similar one from another company that caused the riser to crack where the nubs or feet underneath the toilet rest on the riser. This new riser shows the same tendency to buckle, unfortunately. Though my weight is 100 pounds UNDER the maximum limit, small dents on either side of the riser after one (1) use have manifested themselves. Not too thrilled to know that I may have to purchase another riser within a year; hence the rating.
