Use this to calibrate my aquarium pH meter

A review of the pH Meter Calibration Solution Kit (pH 4.00, 7.00 & 10.01), 3 Bottles 50ml pH Calibration Buffer Solution and 30 ml KCL pH Protective Solution for All pH Meters.The pH meter I purchased only came with a very small amount of calibration powders that had to be mixed. These solutions make things much easier than having to mix 3 powders every time you want to calibrate. Powdered buffers are supposed to be mixed with distilled water, which I don’t have on hand. This is another reason why the solutions are more convenient than in powdered form.I rarely use my meter, so it needs to be calibrated every time I use it. I was hoping to calibrate my meter using the 3 solutions. My pH meter needs to be calibrated to 4.0ph, 6.86pH and 9.18pH. The pH of the solutions in these bottles do not match, so I can’t use them to calibrate. I’m not sure if the calibration pH numbers are the same for all testers. If they are, it would be nice if this company made solutions with the same pH.The shelf life of the solutions is 2 years.One possible advantage of the buffers in powder form is that they might have a longer shelf life, but I’m not sure about that.

These are good item to have if you need to calibrate electronic pH testers. However, the sealing/packaging was poorly done and 2 of them leaked in the box. Also the size of opening on bottle was not wide enough for out floating style tester to be submerged in the liquid. So we had to transfer to another container, which adds variation and they had barely enough liquid to cover especially on the 2 that leaked.

This is a pH Meter Calibration Solution Kit (pH 4.00, 7.00 & 10.01). It comes exactly like the listing says and is exactly what it is claimed to be. You use these to calibrate your PH pen. Make sure you have one of the ph pens that have a smaller end, or else it won't fit in these. These will not fit the wide ended PH pens aka the cheap yellow ones. For the cheaper ones you will need to buy the PH calibration powders and mix them in a cup. With the skinny probe PH pens you can dip them right into these solutions. You can use these a limited number of times before they are useless. They last longer if you take the time to dry your probe off after rinsing it before you insert it into them. So the order is rinse your probe in distilled water and dry it. Calibrate with the first solution. Rinse and dry the probe. Calibrate with the next solution and repeat until you have totally calibrated your PH meter.

This premade calibration solution is so much more convenient than making your own. This makes calibration quick and easy and is very accurate. With my calibrated pH meter, the solutions were spot on.

This product was obtained to calibrate a pH instrument. However, when I opened the box, I immediately noticed that the pH 10.01 Solution was nearly opaque, turbid, and had large particles (actually mats) floating in the solution. I then set out to contact the manufacturer about the problem, but could not find a Lot Number, Manufacturing Date, or other uniquely identifying information about the pH 10.01 Solution. Nevertheless, I wrote the Manufacturer about the problems and my inability to identify the solution to them. They responded the next day explaining that the problem was because of the coloring material placed in the pH 10.01 Solution and that I should just let it settle out. Really? I am not happy about this and believe that it shows a failing in the manufacturer's quality control processes.Later, after settling, I checked the pH of all three solutions versus some pH Strips I have and found that solutions all coordinated well with the stated values (as far as you can tell with pH Strips).As previously stated, I chose this product to calibrate a newly acquired pH instrument. I soon discovered that the instrument could not be calibrated properly with these solutions; I must use solutions with the pH values that the pH instrument manufacturer specifies because the calibration is hard coded into the device's firmware. (Why?) The problem with that is those solutions must be freshly made using small sachets of dry buffer materials and distilled water and I would prefer using pre-made, shelf-stable solutions. Therefore, I had to use these solutions as a secondary reference test of the instrument's ability to measure the pH of a solution. In that capacity, these solutions worked well. I did appreciate the inclusion of the KCL Solution with the kit. The KCL solution, after application to the pH probe, seemed to help the probe become more stable and give readings that were closer to the expected values. I do not know why a similar KCL Solution was not provided by the pH Instrument's manufacturer. It should have been. As a matter of fact, the pH probe should have been stored in the KCL Solution.
