Sturdy & Useful
Although I normally use a walker, I can still walk with two of these canes. I keep them on my walker for emergencies. As such, they are very useful to pick thing up off the floor and to reach for higher objects. The canes work well and are very durable. They are serious aids and not cheap gimmicks.

GREAT PRODUCT
I love this cane. Yes, it is a little bit heavier and a little bit noisier than a regular cane. BUT, it is so nice to be able to pickup something you might have dropped without having to ask for help. And it is very embarrassing to just leave the item on the floor and walk away.

Good, sturdy cane.
I am a temporary cane user recovering from hip surgery. I had a cane I was happy with, until the day I was out walking and dropped my keys. Major problem with a regular cane, since I have mobility issues and was unable to pick them up myself! (Luckily a neighbor came along at the right time.) After that I decided I needed a cane with a built-in grabber, and this one fills the bill nicely. The grabber works well and the cane is strong and sturdy.Drawbacks? Well...the handle is hard plastic. Another reviewer mentioned that they thought it might break or crack easily, and I can see that. It's also hard and uncomfortable in the hand, and my hand perspires somewhat, which makes it slippery. My other cane has a foam wrapped handle, and that is much better. If I were going to use this a lot or it was going to be my only cane, I would have to wrap it with something to make it easier in the hand and less slippery.Another thing...this cane is noisy! I guess it's the hardware, but with every step, especially on a hard surface, you get a clacking sound. So if you're walking in a quiet neighborhood, the neighbors will hear you coming a block away. CLACK...CLACK...CLACK. Kind of weird.Still overall I'm glad I made this purchase. I'm very glad to have that built-in grabber feature which is much needed right now. I do recommend this cane, with the caveat about the handle and the noise.

One of the most useful canes ever built
I love my HandyCane and try to keep it close by all the time. I'm pretty torn up from 21 years in the Army and have some serious mobility issues plus I'm short (5'6") so I use it a lot in grocery stores for top shelf items. They have one huge downfall. They get ripped off. I'm on my 3rd one. Once someone see's it in use they want it. I actually had someone pick it up while it was in my cart and start using it. It was one of those little old ladies with blue hair that thinks they can do whatever they want. I did wrap the handle with the cloth electricians tape because it can get a bit slick. It's grabbing power depends on your grip. I can grab a half gallon of milk but I can't pick up a full gallon. The tips don't have to fully surround the object for it to work. The grabbers are pretty solid. It won't pick up loose change but if the object is ¼" tall it will get it. All in all a great device for the physically impaired and vertically challenged.

Great grabber, uncomfortable handle
I bought 2 of these as gifts for friends with disabilities. Both were initially excited because the cane was sturdy and the grabber worked wonderfully. But both eventually gave the canes back to me- the handgrip was uncomfortable and made their wrists ache. Flash forward a few years and now I need a cane, but also find these unusable for more than a few minutes because the shape of the handgrip makes my wrist ache. What a shame- it’s a brilliant concept!

so happy to have found this.
I have had a stroke and even though i have regained m ability to walk, I have terrible balance issues so i carry a cane for balance and to catch myself if falling is imminent. I am all of 5' 2". i have used my cane's hook, while shopping to slide things closer to me so that I can reach them and that is quite handy, But many times I drop things, basically just knock them off the shelf. when I do wind up with things on the floor, picking them up is a real balance issue to keep me from falling onto my hard head. i have wished many times for an instrument such as this so that I don't have to carry and cane and a grabber. i was so excited o find this. and it works exactly as described. and the short one fits my height perfectly. it is a little heavier than most canes but that just makes me feel more secure. i can't say i love it enough.

Great cane with retractable claw
I have had to start using a cane and also needed help picking up things. This cane is great - sturdy and can pick up most anything.
