I had a post in my boundary fence that had rotted through. I might have been tempted to put in a concrete spur, but there were several large, well-established plants in the way, so that wasn't really an option. So I bought a set of these. And they do the job perfectly, giving a nice, sturdy fix. I've only just installed them, so it'll be interesting to see how they cope with one or two winter storms, but there's no "play" in the post, now. Importantly, one needs little room to work, which meant that the plants were saved. They're simplicity itself to install: a lump hammer, a screwdriver and some elbow grease - although I would say that a pair of gloves might be an idea if you want to avoid blisters - fourteen 60mm screws is hard on your hands if you don't have an electric screwdriver. Anyway, bottom line: well pleased!

I have a gate post rotten at the ground level. The post was installed with strong concrete base around it so the conventional concrete post repair spurs could not be fitted without digging up the entire concrete base. I was sceptical about the effectiveness of the post buddy but given the price of the product vs total costs of replacing the post I thought give it a go. I have to say the result was amazing. The post buddies have firmly secured rotten post properly on its place. I did have to use 3 post buddies on 3 sides instead of 2 advertised given the size of the gate post. The post buddies were very strong and sturdy but they are very to install with the sharp tip to ease driving in and marker lines to guide how deep to insert. Took me 45 minutes to complete the whole job! Very happy with the product.

Good product. Wooden fence posts naturally rot at ground level; the wood below ground level (cement fill) is still good and the fence itself is also sound. I have a 20 year old fence with 20 posts and I know how much it cost me to replace some posts when a section blew over in a storm. When I noticed a couple of wobbly posts I fitted these metal bars and saved myself a lot of money as a semi permanent solution. Requires a heavy hammer and some practical ability, but is good hardened steel material and can be a good solution to post rot.

I've had a few rotten fence posts in recent years and decided to fix one with these. The post buddy itself is fine - good thick steel, easy to hammer in. But it didn't work. The rot in my posts went too deep. You really need to know if there's solid wood beneath the soil level before you start. Even then - in most cases - this is a stop-gap solution. You're better off digging out the original concrete and putting in a new post with postcrete. Yes, it'll take longer, but the following winter you'll have a working fence post rather than - as I did - it breaking again.

Was dubious these would work on rotted base of one post and a wind damaged post that was swaying in high winds. Needed a heavy metal mallet style hammer (had a heavy duty one for tent pegs which was ideal), angled the repair stake per instructions and started hammering. Went quickly to start with then gradually harder and harder when it started bedding into wooden post below rotted area underground between post concrete. Put two stakes per post and seems to have effectively bridged over rotten area of post and after screwing up the repair stakes and making sure level using spirit level I'm amazed how rigid the posts are now! Saves all the time and cost of digging out old post, buying new and cementing in new posts. Job done in fraction of the time. Will be interested in finding out how long they last, but very heavy duty repair stakes with and serated ends and additional paint protection. Very happy to recommend based on my experience today.

Basically consists of a metal bar with a tapered end that you pound into the ground with a club hammer and screw to the wonky fence post. The instructions say use 2 per post. The bar has ridges in the soil end to make it "stick" better, and is well painted presumably to help resist corrosion. It works well enough and is a pretty simple item. 35 quid for 4 pieces of metal is somewhat expensive but it is a lot cheaper than a new fence. You will need some exterior woodscrews to screw the bars to the post. The firmer the ground the better I imagine although the "pounding" part of the exercise is then harder. I managed to install them fine and I am a basic DIY'er at best.
