NRS Healthcare Q96978 NRS fleece-lined cosy, waterproof and comfortable wheelchair cosy

I bought this a few months ago for my mum who is completly wheelchair dependant but yet still very independant and likes to run her own errands etc in her electric chair but she hadnt been able to do so in extremely cold and windy weather. We have tried every blanket possible and tried wrapping them round her bottom half but the issue was always that the cold and wind still managed to get through to her foot and up the back of her leg (shes an amputee so only has one leg) making her freezing cold and they always come undone and have to be sorted which is hard if she is on her own. All the waterproof ones we could find online were just basically plastic and/or only covered the front of the legs which is useless when the wind chill still hits the back of your legs and feet. This product completely encloses the bottom half of her body in a wind and rain proof fur lined blanket and it has helped so much and given her back some independance during the cold weather. It fits snugly up her back and then around her body from the waist down and is completely fur lined in a very warm, fluffy fabric. This is not only very warm and cosy but it completely blocks the wind chill from creeping up under her which was her biggest issue. It is also water proof so if she gets caught in rain then this along with her regular rain poncho keeps her bone dry and warm and snug from top to bottom. My mum sometines also uses a rather large mobility scooter instead of her chair and this also fits perfectly on that too. If she gets too warm, the bag can be zipped open and tucked in. This item has completly changed the winter isolation issue for my mum and we wish we had found it years ago! If i could give this 10 stars i would!

This cosy was ordered for an elderly relation with poor circulation and delicate feet.They appreciate the warmth and protection it offers to their lower legs and feet. They also liked the firm internal base under the lower end which provides comfortable foot positioning.The fleece lining is soft and sumptuous.As it can be used with the zip partly down and the upper half open my relation will be comfortable in summer with just their lower legs covered.The zip has both external and internal zipper-pulls. There is a cord attached which can be tied onto the internal zipper-pull, enabling the user to adjust the zip to their preferred level.The cosy does not come with a carrying bag. However, the one I ordered will be in constant use so doesn't need one. I may even buy a second cosy to allow for washing and drying.Overall, a sound purchase which I fully expect to enhance my relation's life. Can recommend.

First purchase had to be sent back as on its first use the zip broke. We tried again by getting a replacement rather than a refund and so far so good. It is most definitely fine & cosy and it does keep him dry. Plenty of room in there to prevent him from feeling restricted. Keeping fingers crossed that the zip holds out this time.

Can now take my dad to watch football in all weathers. Unable to stand so use banana board to slide him onto wheelchair with the blanket already in position on chair . The loops at the top go over wheelchair arms which helps keep blanket in position. It also helps to stop his feet sliding off footplate when zipped up. It doesn’t completely unzip at the bottom due to the reinforced base for feet so have to lift his feet in. He feels warm and it’s waterproof should we be sat in the rain. He is 5ft 8 and fits comfortably inside.

It kept me warm although using the cord to zip it up is a waste of time and had to bend to do it,thankfully I can still bend and able to.Lovely size and very good value for money.

There are no holes/slots in it to enable ypu to use the lap belt or a harness with it. You can either be strapped in safe, or zipped up warm. I can't use it without straps for my dad as he will fall out. I have had to contact someone to see about having the slots put into it to enable my dad's harness straps to be used. As he is fully hoisted I can't chance him falling out.There isn't even any slots in it for a simple lap belt to be used. Shame really as it would be perfect otherwise.It does feel quite thin, but i think it will be quite warm.Also, the elastics to go over the handles are no good to us, as his chair has a cross bar type hande, rather than the 2 separate hand grips. So there's nothing to hook it on. It would be better if the elastics were velcro so it could be wrapped around any type handle. Instead, I either have to get them changed or use a bungi strap/zip ties.The inside material feels so warm amd cosy. I'm not sure weather to send it back and look for a better one where I can use the safety belt/harness or weather to have someone to cut amd stitch it for me, which will be extra cost.

This certainly keeps my husband cozy when we are out and about. The only downside to it is the space at the bottom where feet go - it is too narrow and his feet tend to slip between the two foot rests making the cozy drag on the ground.
