Q: one critical dimension seems to be missing ... I can see depth and heigh but what is the width? i.e side to side where it attaches to the vehicle

I believe it's 2.8metre wide where it attaches to rail where as the awning is 3 metre wide in total.

Q: Will this fit a Vw transporter Vån?

If the Transporter is the same as T5 then no, it'll be too tall. We have a high top Fiat Ducato based camper van with Fiamma awning (which the Lichfield attaches to. There is a lower version, I believe, but have a look at either Easycamp or Outwell Air Awnings. they have types specially for smaller vans.

Hi you wind the motorhome awning out about 1metre and pull out the joining strip from the motorhome awning. Wind the awning back in, remove the anchor pegs from under the motorhome. Roll up the excess porch and secure and off you go ( not forgetting to mark where your wheels were) When you return just do the reverse to attach. Hope that's clear ?

Q: where would you fit the awning rail on a sprinter

We don't attach ours by rail. We have a transit and use the throw over straps.
