Ace Noise Cancelling Bluetooth Over-Ear Headphones - Black

I (finally!) purchased these Ace headphones to help with a movie-theater-style setup in my unfinished basement. The area will be converted into a real setup someday when the basement gets finished, but there are some unique issues to overcome now: 1) the HVAC system is nearby and is loud between the fans and whole house humidifier; 2) this theater is below the main bedroom in the house; 3) I only have one power outlet in this side of the basement; 4) my projector is very basic and only has headphones-out or 3.5-jack to RCA as options, so no optical. With all of these conditions to meet, and no surround sound speakers installed in this room, I had to get creative. Rather than invest in a Soundbar knowing my audio connections aren't great with this projector, decided to solve all of my problems with a set of ACE headphones and a Bluetooth repeater. My projector can connect to one BT device at a time, and the audio quality coming from my projector to the ACE is great! The quality goes down a bit when I use my BT repeater, but still way better than any alternative scenario and allows both headphones I purchased to connect at the same time. I'm able to ignore all of the HVAC and other noises in the basement, not disturb anyone upstairs, I'm able to hear ALL of the audio content and speech with a nice punch of bass here and there, and these headphones can charge up very quickly. I wore them for several hours the first night and felt they were very comfortable. I tested them in a different room with my Arc Soundbar, and felt that the quality was exceptional and the tuning was very good, and the handoff between the soundbar and headphones worked great. The things that surprised me about these headphones are really my own fault for not researching appropriately: I thought I could use these with my Sonos system, but that's obviously not the case because they do not have WiFi capabilities. Their quality is somewhat dependent upon the sound quality being transmitted to them (duh) so if you have a less-than-audiophile setup you're going to have to deal with a less than perfect audio experience. Can't get Dolby quality if that's not being transmitted! But that is no fault of the headphones. Pros: stylish, comfortable, excellent sound quality when present, excellent noise cancelling. The spatial audio seems to work ok, not really sure if it's that necessary with my setup. I like the physically buttons, as it allows for independent volume control. They were really easy to setup after charging and a firmware update. I also got a great price here in buying a pair together at one time.

Before I purchased these headphones I owned a pair of Bose Quiet Comfort, and I used them pretty much every day for 4 years before they broke on me. I was really happy with the Bose but I wanted to try something new and I wasn't disappointed with these. The Sonos Ace are just as comfortable as the Bose, if not slightly more so. They fit snug on my head without being too tight. I can wear them at the gym and they stay right where I put them, regardless of the workout I'm doing. I can even lay down to do bench presses without them shifting on my head. I haven't gone running with these yet, but I am confident you shouldn't have any issues. The noise cancellation is also really good. I haven't owned these long enough to say they are better than the Bose (had them for about a week) but so far I'm not feeling like I've downgraded at all. I didn't notice a single sound in the gym, which can be a noisy place. Sound quality is definitely better than Bose, the sound stage feels fuller/wider, so I get more immersed in the music. When I listen to podcasts the voices feel richer and clearer. As far as battery and charging goes, they are a serious upgrade. These things have 30 hours of battery life, and if you forget to charge them, they can get up to 3 hours of battery after just 3 minutes of charging, so if you're in a hurry to get to the gym, they will have enough battery life for a workout by the time you get dressed to leave. (This is probably one of my favorite features of the headphones because I'm terrible about charging my devices) They are really sleek looking, these are definitely the most attractive pair of headphones I've ever seen in my personal opinion. Lastly, the build quality feels top notch. My Bose headphones broke on the left side where the ear piece connected to the headband, it had a plastic joint that wore out over time because I would remove my headphones with one hand. The Sonos Ace are made of metal where the ear piece meets the headband so I'm very confident that these won't break the same way the Bose did, which is really reassuring. My hope is that these will last as long, if not longer than the Bose did. If these don't have any internal issues, such as speakers/software/microchips, I feel pretty confident that the overall build of the Sonos is pretty sturdy and will hold up against daily wear and tear. I wear headphones at work all day, sometimes 10-12 hour shifts, and when I get home they get used for housework, video games, etc. These things are the kind of headphones you can wear forever and not get any discomfort, and they feel like they're built tough enough to withstand the kind of abuse that eventually broke my Bose. They are hands down my favorite pair of headphones so far and I highly recommend them. If i discover any issues worth mentioning after owning them longer, I will be sure to come back and update this review - otherwise, assume I'm still a happy customer!

Wide sound stage for a closed back ANC headphone. Clarity and definition are superior to the other headphones I tested which are the Momentum 4s and the Cambridge Melomanias. The base is dynamic and full like mini thunder in your ears without sounding too warm, outstanding. The Sonos headphones are far superior to the other two headphones I tested, in fact I would add that I would not recommend the others over the Sonos at all. I know that's harsh since I'm not even going to list what makes the others inferior, but the difference will sound so clear, there's hardly much to say. I'll put it this way, I had to compare the Sonos with real audiophile headphones that have no features except quality drivers. Yes, the Sonos weren't better but I really spent the time to compare. For Gaming go with the Sonos over the other headphones because of it's wide sound stage it's much better at handling 7.1 virtual surround sound. The Sonos are way more comfortable than the other headphones because of how the earpads are designed to curve over your ear, not just sit flat on your ear like the others, while still covering all of your ear. It's an impressive design and just makes them feel great to wear. Also, these have magnetic earpads for easy removal unlike the others. The Senheisers do use touch controls if you like that. I found them useful but once you learn the controls of the Sonos it won't matter. There's a strange behavior with the ANC options with the Sonos when you disable ANC, the base drops below 50% of its power. However, I believe this is a feature when you don't want it to go on and off in certain areas where you need to external hearing. In addition, you can keep the setting at Adaptive which restores the base with a small open back effect. The third option for full ANC removes the open back effect. I also found the Sonos more stylish to the other two since hard edges is just how 99% of other headphones look. The headband also sits snug around your head without any weird parts that sticking out like you're in a studio when they simply don't perform that way. I know this part is subjective but I think some people would appreciate these design points. Overall, while probably more expensive than other wireless ANC headphones, these are just all around great and worth it over the others. Reviews have raved about the Sennheiser over these, I resoundingly disagree. Other observations are situational. For example, I found that these type of headphones did not need to replace my Airpod Pros when I would go for a walk or a quick hop to the corner store. The sounds of the airpods directly in your ear are just high quality sounding as regular headphones. However, if I had to go somewhere to work all day like at the office, the Sonos were hands down more comfortable in that situation. If you like to sleep with music headphones, these will be far more comfortable than the Airpods sitting in your ear. Last point is for gaming again. While the Sonos are far better for gaming than the other ones mentioned, they are still wireless ANC headphones meant for all kinds of scenarios. Dedicated headphones that will tether you to your gaming PC or if you want just audiophile headphones, those will probably offer more immersive experience in those situations.

Since I have some Sonos stuff in my home,I figured I should try these Sonos Ace headphones. I recently decided to look for a good pair of Bluetooth ANC headphones. I started with a pair of Bowers and Wilkins PX8. While those had a build quality that was beyond impeccable, the sound quality was mediocre. Then I went to a pair of Focal Bathys. The build quality was good, but not in the same level as the B&W’s. However, the sound quality was exceptional with airy detailed highs, clear strong bass, and crystal clear vocals. The Sonos wasn’t quite as expensive as either of the others, so I wrote them off originally. But I’ve heard a number of good things from actual people praising the Aces, so I decided to buy a pair. The sound quality is the most important aspect of the headphones for me, so that’s where I’ll start. These are good, considerably better than the Bowers and Wilkins PX8, and very close to the Focal Bathys. The highs are not quite as detailed, and the vocals are not quite at the same level of clarity, but close enough that at a little more than half price, I’d consider living with it. The one negative thing I noticed occasionally was a slight very high frequency digital noise. These build quality is close to the the Focals. Definitely not of the same quality as the B&W’s, but I haven’t found another that is, so can’t knock the Sonos too much on that. Removable and replaceable ear pads (magnetically mounted) are a nice touch. There are a lot of “features” that you don’t find on other headphones. The Dolby Atmos is ok, but I watched several movies and could take it or leave it. If you have a Sonos Arc Ultra, switching from soundbar to headphones is easy. I greatly disliked the head tracking, as it seemed to just annoyingly cut out a side when I didn’t want it to. But there is an option in the app to turn it off, so that’s good. There is a bug that once in a while might cause one side to not work, but turning it off then on is supposed to fix it. I did an update, and it was working when it came back up. Battery life seems to be pretty good. I listened for a whole work day and used about 25%.

I used many competitors, including Sony XM4-5-6, and this device undoubtedly has better build quality and is more comfortable than Sony's and Bose's. The aware mode is more uncomfortable than this and phone calls as well. Your sound might not be the best on Ace, but you can actually talk for hours with this, as it is comfortable and it lets you hear yourself and those around you better. I also felt these were at least on par with the Active Noise Cancelation. Additionally, other devices require many configurations and calibrations, but this one does not, and it works better all the time. I just had a 13-hour flight with many babies around, and I felt like in a fairyland. This real-life use case was not mentioned in any of the tests, and it was enough for me to choose Ace over the other test leaders. These were certain facts about Sonos Ace, and the sound quality depends on what you love. For me, it was better with movies on the long flight, and it was very detailed on Jazz and Blues.

I've just received these Sonos Ace headphones this evening. Went through the pairing, which was notably difficult. Pairing between Android and Ace was instant, however the Sonos App wasn't recognizing the phone pairing - so I factory reset the units several times and kept struggling between Sonos App and Phone's bluetooth, and finally it paired. In this day and age trouble with pairing is unacceptable. When I got the headphones working, I found the noise cancellation to be quite good. Sound quality of the headphone good, a touch bass heavy, but in general decent. Fit and finish is good, and in the direction of premium. What has completely soured the experience however is, about 10 minutes into wearing the headphones, there was a loud sharp crackling noise in the left ear, completely intermittent. No rhyme or reason to when it happened, but sharp enough of a noise that it felt potentially damaging to the ear drum. As instructed by online instructions, I performed a factory reset, multiple times, and updated the headphones software. The crackling still exists. Further another issue developed, which is in the left ear the Noise Cancellation began going bad. It was working in the right ear, but the left ear produced that sort of air plane whoosh noise and clearly wasn't functioning properly. I am a Sonos power user with home setups in multiple homes. It is incredibly annoying these are bad out of the box, for what is clearly meant to be a premium product. I am the type of person that rarely writes reviews, only when something is extremely good, or extremely bad, and unfortunately this is a bad situation. I bought these on an Amazon flash deal for roughly $275, and since I've setup the return, I went to purchase a replacement pair and the price is now back up to $399. Not a chance in hell I'd pay that given the first try is Dead Upon Arrival. Extremely disappointing.

I was a little disappointed when I learned Sonos didn't try to differentiate its first over-the-ear headphones to the market, outside of pairing to another Sonos specific soundbar... The other concerning factor was the press it was getting especially with tech reviewers. As I searched and searched for good over-the-ears headphones, I considered this pair when it was discounted as it made it more palatable for purchase. I have tried the latest offerings from Sony, Bose and the likes. I didn't consider Apple since it looks like it would be fatiguing after a long flight for me. After receiving the the Sonos Ace headphones, the unboxing experience was pleasant. The packaging and details was typical Sonos flare. You get what you pay for. Now to the headphones. They are not very heavy, feels very premium to the touch. The best part imo, physical buttons! I am not a big fan of touch sensitive headphones having owned older on ears B&O where you can accidentally control it. I added the Ace to the app since I do own their speakers. It connected and updated the firmware after a few. The headphones are exactly what I am looking for in sound quality. I played different genre of music and to me it was very balanced and not very bass heavy (like Sony and Bose). It passed my test for audio quality and the amplification levels. The noise cancellation worked very well. I am not looking for the Bose level but it does the job of blocking unwanted excess from your listening. With the music playing and NC on you are pretty much in your own state of mind. As mentioned, I have tried quite a few but never kept them beyond my trial period due to performance and fit for my preference. For the high cost, even full price, this pair is worth it. Getting it at a discounted price sweetens the pot even more. I am keeping these as I have already decided they are coming with me on a future long flight. Got these in the white color and I am very pleased as most if not all my previous headphones were black. Highly recommend the Sonos Ace headphones if fit, performance and price meets your criteria. Sonos hit the marks for me this round. Can't wait to see the next release!

To start with the sound, it sounds pretty good. It is not a top of the line set of headphones, but combined with all the features, it was certainly to consider. Noise reduction, and awareness feature seem to work pretty good. If you use the ace with the Sonos app, there should never be an issue. Pairing to the TV and other devices works fine, and I like that you can switch from one to another by the push of a button. I purchased this device, because I have a Sonos arc sound bar and the set of headphones was specifically designed to work with the Sonos arc. Here I want to mention, they’re just by judging the sound, the item would’ve been a four star. Period. But all the issues that I had using it with the Sonos sound bar, made me decide to lower to three stars. I’m quite aware, if Sonos had made a little bit more an effort, these issues wouldn’t exist, because when it worked, it worked fine But my judgment is on the other times when it didn’t work fine and often times disconnect for no reason and adjusting the sound with a remote control to the TV is a pain, because it’s just not smooth. Other features, like if you take the headphones off, it would automatically pause a movie and restart when putting it back on, our fun to explore in the beginning, but really is that worth the extra money? Or a feature if you spin your head, that the headphone speakers adjust sound towards the direction of the TV, could be called more annoying than useful, but that’s up to the user to decide. After having had this headset for a year, it is doing funny things with the LED, that’s supposed to indicate it being on and off. Also many times the internal battery has discharged and I have no clue why. In a nutshell, this is one of the newer Sonos inventions, it seemed to have a little bit of different principal away from the old and reliable Sonos that we had become to love so much. Since this is a Sonos product I must also voice my disapproval of their total revamp of the app. I never had an issue understanding how to do all the things with the old app, but now I’m struggling to find how to switch from one device to another and recently I was not able to upgrade the Sonos app on my laptop for no particular reason. So do not expect the Old Ways Sonos, that was once the most reliable brand on the multi room media market!

Digan lo que digan los reviews, estos en mi opinión son la mejor opción que hay sobretodo considerando el precio recientemente. he tenido los bose, sony m6, y estos son los que más me gustan. Simplemente porque el sonido es bueno, quizás sin ser el mejor, pero cumple muy bien, me gusta la interacción con mi app de sonos y mis otros dispositivos, mentienen buena conexión a buenas distancias, esteticamente son lindos y su construcción es muy buena. Yo tengo los blancos y son muy elegantes. Pero lo más importante es lo cómodos que son. Quizás si tardas en acostumbrarte un poco pero cuando te acostumbras, los puedes tener por muchas horas sin sentirlos, sin fatiga, sin puntos de fricción, las almohadillas son muy comodas. Para este tipo de audifonos, creo que el comfort es lo más importante. Porque los uso para trabajar. Cancelación de ruido es exelente, no se nota la presión que otros pueden generar, entonces 10 de 10.

Good but sound is not loud very muted sound

Great integration with my Sonos beam and much more simple to switch between tv soundbar and headphones (press a button and instantly connect) compared to other Bluetooth headphones (navigate tv menu, reconnect). Coming from Sony XM 4’s, these have similar sound quality. These are more comfortable and easier to keep on for hours. They don’t fall off if I bend or jump. Cons: These have a little less noice cancelling, less eq customization and much less battery life (but still sufficient).

The Bose 45 are excellent but the Sonos Ace takes it another level well worth the difference in cost and the tv swap feature which is now available on the Ray, Beam 1 and 2 is even more immersive. Sound, noise canceling, Fit, comfort, finish and control functions are top notch. Whether using bluetooth to listen to your tv/music or using the tv swap feature, the sound is premium. 30 hour bluetooth battery life and around 6 hours tv/swap wi fi battery life. The source content will automatically pause when you take the Headphones off and resume when you put them back on. Tv swap now works with both apple/android compatible devices.

Been in the market for a very good high end headphones for months. I’ve tried many of them: from Sony XM6 to Bose Quiet Comfort Ultra To Senheiser Momentum 4 and a few others. None of them come close to Sonos Ace. Exceptional comfort, deep clean, crisp Spatial head tracking lossless audio. These headphones don’t just sound great, they look great. As you put them on, you immediately recognize that these are not flimsy cheep plastic.
