This book was amazing
There are so many things in this book that I adore so much. I don’t even have a favorite part because of how good this book was. If I could I would give this book a 13/10. The plot to this story was amazing and the tension between characters was so aggravating but so necessary. I would recommend this to anyone.

Promises and Pomegranates
Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥POV: Dual 1st PersonM/FStand alone? There are some unresolved plot points that I think will be addressed in future books but it isn’t a cliffhanger and this couple’s story is complete in this book. This is one of those situations where everyone is saying this is a five star book and I have to respectfully disagree. Not saying it isn’t a five star book for someone, but it wasn’t for me. Why, you ask? Well, because it is a reimagining of a myth.I personally LOVE these kinds of books. The ones that are not a retelling but a whole new creation loosely based on the original. I SERIOUSLY love them. I love them for their subtlety. I love them for their Easter eggs. I love them for the new stories that resemble the old and I ESPECIALLY love the antihero versions where the “villain” wins. This book only hit a couple of my points on my personal checklist well. The story itself was wonderful, dark, delicious. I enjoyed it. The “villain” aspect definitely rang my bell. However, I love a good Easter egg hunt and most of the Easter eggs were glaringly obvious and the few that were NOT were pretty well explained in the story. Also, I don’t know how many times the author thought they needed to reference Hades and Persephone but they did so CONSTANTLY. It lessened my personal enjoyment of the story. So, while the story was good (and if it hadn’t been a reimagining then I likely would have rated it higher but being one I have to say it was ok) it wasn’t really so much for me. If you aren’t an Easter egg hunter and don’t mind the constant blatant references to the original characters of the myth then this is a really good book and you’ll enjoy it.

Book as described, story was even better!
YEAH BUDDY. My first SRM book and I was not ready, yall. Nobody warned me: the spice be spicin’! Is Kallum not a delicious masterpiece or what?! And if hell is on a nearly private island, sign me up. 😆 very little actual mafia involvement but I was fine with that. The angsty family drama though felt so justified. Overall, this was a great intro to the series and to the author. Looking forward to more M&M books. 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5 (quality over quantity here)

I promise you, best book of 2021
Lord give me strength. ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS I HAVE READ ALL 2021.When I first read about Kal in Sweet Surrender, I was like "hey.. I am intrigued, the way he's written and how ~mysterious~ I am about that." He made several "appearances" in previous books, each time I was SWOONING over him (until Boyd's book then I was like excuse me, Daddy Boyd is here). Then I READ SWEET SIN. If you read this prequel you ARE AWARE of Elena (queen) and Kal (swoon).THIS BOOK BLEW MY EXPECTATIONS OUT OF THE WATER! I religiously follow Sav R Miller on all social media, waiting for a glimpse of Kal, waiting PATIENTLY for his book to come out... literally had a countdown.THIS BOOK IS MAGIC. Pure magic, the fact that this is loosely based on Hades and Persephone not only drew me in even more than expected, but it made this book different from other dark romances. There were moments in this book where I wanted to cry with the connection between Hades and Kal, he was always descries as a cold, dark, unemotional man, Ms. Miller did a great job creating this character and dropping the PLOT TWIST of the century with his back story. Part of me knew we were missing something (the first part of the book goes into detail about him and noises) but when this was finally mentioned, I was like AH OKAY THANKS.Elena, mafia Princess, is a character that I loved from the moment. She is a strong females character, who will literally punch you in the face, that everyone needs to read. Elena is from a mafia family in Boston, her dad basically sells her off to Kal (not that she was really complaining...) but that's not really what happened (I WILL NOT SPOIL IT). She was one of the most complex characters that I have read in a while, she is not a weakling who bows to a man... no she is a woman who knows what she wants.Without going into detail of the story, you need to read this book. Go in with an open mind and be prepared for your mind to be BLOWN ! Kal might have taken over as my ONE TRUE LOVE (Boyd who?!)I love reading books with characters from other books, and then realizing that you don't know them at all, this is what Kal is. You think you know him, but you really don't. There are other King's Trace Characters in here (mentioning them) and the ending ... LAWD WHAT!? There is one character, will not be named, that deserved a brutal death but.... I digress.Ms. Miller proved herself, again for the 4th time, that she is the QUEEN of Creating Dark Romance with backstory, STRONG CHARACTERS and hawt men.
