Excellent update on this topic
Excellent resource for A level language

Left Wing Nonsense
This book is a Marxist take on language. If you want to indoctrinate students with that ideology, then it's the book for you. If you seek to offer them objective linguistic methods of text analysis, then this should be avoided.
