What an astounding piece of writing.
What an astounding piece of writing. It centres around a most craven, selfish, weak willed, dislikable, deceitful woman who should attract not a shred of sympathy. The reader can only cheer at her final demise and yet, for some strange reason, the journey of weakness, stupidity and self-absorption is strangely compelling. Despite everything, the pages keep turning with a horrid fascination and morbid curiosity. To keep the reader entranced with such an irritating and contemptible character is a masterpiece of writing. This tales asks for and gets no sympathy, but it’s a fascinating read.
