I have bee.n a pug owner for over 20 years. I do not clean pug facial wrinkles on a regular basis. I have wiped with a water wipe if they got their face in food or something. My pugs never get infections. Just recently I started using a pet groomer. Within the second month my pug got a nasty fungal infection in the deep wrinkle above the nose(for those who look at that as a cute feature it just means your dog's nose is so smashed in they can't breathe well). I couldn't tell where the smell was coming from but finally found it. Such disgusting drainage. I learned after the first pug who had chronic ear infections that antibiotics don't clear them effectively. A pug rescue recommended Zymox ear cleaner. It is amazing! I use it for 7-10 days at the first sign of the dog shaking their head or digging at their ear. It clears completely! I have saved easily over $1000 in vet bills. As I was looking for a wrinkle cleaner that wouldn't hurt and would actually work I came across these Zymox pads. They were effective on day 2! No more smell. On day 4 clean light pink wrinkles! I will continue for ten days to be sure it is cleared completely. I do use 2-4 pads on my fingertip to wipe it out. The easiest (misleading) way is to have pug between your legs and near an arm of the couch. Approach from behind. Pull the forehead up gently(by now you will be in a full on wrestling match) and wipe center to each side. Change pad if needed. Be cautious of their eyes to keep it out of their eyes and also with pugs to avoid an eye protrusion. I imagine having a larger dog the pads could be bigger but will work the same on your finger tip. They would work well for paws and infections between their toes too. You can use them to wipe your dogs ears as well. The absolute best products for pets. If the infection doesn't clear right away, they have a fever or other signs of illness take them to the vet. Always continue until complete healing and don't stop after they look ok on day 2 or 3. Infections hurt so consider Rimadyl or another drug for pain as well.
