Updated after a trip to Costa Rica. First Impression, will update as I use it.
UPDATE:Ok so, have not tested waterproofing beside what I did at home the first day I had the bag. The backpack was very handy in Costa Rica where I tookmy A7III with extended grip (not battery grip) and my Sigma ART 35mm 1.4 and Sigma contemporary 100-400 with Metabones V. The camera fits in the camera compartment with the 35mm attached to it but not with the 100-400. Also, woth this combination of lenses, a battery grip would not fit. However, the camera fits in the top compartment even when fitted woth the 100-400 so, although less protected, this bag can be used for that as well.I also like that it has a strap in the back that fits the handle of my carry on making it super easy to move around with.I like this backpack. It looks like a normal backpack instead of a camera bag, which is hopefully enough to not get mugged traveling to Costa Rica.I like that the backpack’s camera compartment opens from the side that faces my back which should make it impossible for thieves to steal my equipment while I am carrying my backpack on my back. The camera compartment has a padded insert woth drawstring that should keep dust out of my gear and add extra protection from water (hopefully). Also, that insert, which is basically a bag that can be removed and placed in again very quickly. That mens I can take that bag out with me and leave the backpack somewhere else.I have a Sigma 100-400 C with Metabones attached and an A7III camera with the Meike metal grip that extends the grip by only less than an inch (with my battery grip the this setup won’t fit) with a Sigma 35mm 1.4 Art. And a blower. It all fits.If you are not in places where your gear could be stolen, you can place the camera in the top vompartment accessible from the too zipper (easy to steal) which makes it also very easy to quickly store or equip your canera.Overall, I thinking am gonna like this backpack a lot. However, as soon as I got the bag, I poured a glas of water on it. I was amazed at the pretty display of water sliding right off the surface of this backpack. He canvas was dry. Then I checked the inside of a pocket which is closed by a zipper: completely wet. The zippers let water through. So, this backpack is not waterprof, per se. It does come with a liner that you can stretch over the bag and that should make it waterpfoof, however, the bag itself it is not waterproof as described.Bear in mind that even if water seems to get in the zippers, the pockets are lined with what seems to be waterproof lining. So, in reality, even without the waterproof liner stretched over your backpack, I seriously doubt your camera gear would get wet (as long as it is in the camera compartment) because there are so many layers of water resistand marerial. But...you passport, Iphone, cash, herpes cream, will all be soaked wet.Hope it helps. That’s all for now.

Great bag, great price, with a few flaws
This bag is awesome, it looks good while still being rugged and functional, but its not without its flaws. The main gripe i have with it is the glaring omission of a usable water bottle side pouch. The bag has two identical side pouches, and they are sturdy but SOOO slim at the opening (see last picture). For a bag that is water resistant and clearly geared for being used as a travel camera bag, its kind of ridiculous that it lacks a decent place to put a water bottle. This was almost a deal breaker as I planned on using it for hikes, but I was able to macgyver a solution. I used scissors to cut vertical slits into one of the sidepouchs (right one so as to not interfere with tripod holder) and then used crazy glue on the end of the slits to prevent them from tearing further. This made the opening barely wide enough to hold a small 500ml nalgene, and for a full size nalgene it works as long as I use a strap to secure the top of the bottle to the bag (the attached pictures show this). My only other complaint is that the front pockets with the vertical zippers are too slim to be useful, I feel like the real estate on the front of the bag could have been better used by adding one more voluminous pocket (like the pocket of the front of classic jansport backpacks) rather than these two useless ones. The big top pocket is a little bit on the small side so the extra volume would have been appreciated. Other than that this bag is really great, all the other features and stuff work well and it has a lot of them considering the price. I'd say if the water bottle thing isn't a deal breaker for you go ahead and buy it.

Great looking and functionality. Read this for some extra explanations!
This thing is great. After looking at the older version and this newer version, I chose this one. Glad I did. I really makes sense. I put my Canon DSLR in it with a 300mm lens in there, and then have a couple squares open for my 50mm lens and my batteries, etc. The camera fits pretty snugly in, gotta kinda gently push it in there, but it’s good and tight, which is a good thing, as it feels secure. NOTE: Customer photos show the camera section having a zip baggy top, and some people seem to complain about this bag, which is indeed a separate piece from the whole bag (you can take it out and use the bag as a normal backpack)... However, the company’s photos do not show this top baggy part, so I was wondering about that. When it comes, the baggy part sticks out, but you can take the entire thing out, then fold the top part of the baggy back onto itself to create the nice padded “box” without the top. Then it easily fits back into the bag and looks like it does on the company’s photos. Also you don’t have to fiddle with that top baggy part when accessing your camera. I think this confuses people so I hope this helps. Also, someone mentioned that if you take this padded baggy/box out, it’s “impossible” to get back in, but that’s not the case. Just shove one side in there, then shift it over and the other side will fall into place. I’ll post photos if people are confused. The top compartment is great too. It’s a nice amount of space. Could fit a sweater or a bunch of random stuff. I love it.It looks good too. It’s nice enough to wear in the city if you’re doing some tourist stuff and want your camera, but also rugged enough to bring to the redwood forest and go hiking in the misty woods. Good stuff.
