This Rite In The Rain pencil in much nicer then the older models. I like that it has weight to it and feels good in the hand. It writes very well and the lead deploys and retracts easily without any hiccups. I tend to press down hard when writing and always snap thinner lead pencils. This 1.3mm lead is great and after just a few pages of writing can tell it's going to be one of my favorite pencils. I did not rate the durability do to just receiving it but I have no doubt it will last a long time. I gave the value 4 stars because for a pencil at this price it would have been nice to receive extra lead and a couple erasers. It will be another 14 dollars for lead and erasers but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. My original Rite In The Rain pencil is now three years old and still going strong but it just feels to light and small in diameter in my large hands. I like the metal pinch area and just that little large diameter makes a big difference when writing for long periods of time. Is it worth it, I think so and I would definitely purchase another one. The eraser works very well and the lead is super strong. I read a few reviews on people breaking these pencil's so I applied pressure to the plastic part with my thumb and it was plenty strong and I am a welder with large strong hands. Maybe don't sit on it or purposely try snapping it to test it's strength. Well worth the money if you use it for what it was fabricated for. You can't go wrong with any Write In The Rain product but then again that is just my opinion after using there products for years. Heavy handed approved.

It seems like I go through mechanical pencils pretty fast, but this one is lasting me. I use it daily - Well designed, heavy duty materials. I've never broken the lead on it. I'll buy it again (if it ever fails.) Great pencil!

Ok, I don't write in the rain while rappelling down a cliff, or anything like that. I use these for woodworking and carpentry projects. I have used all kinds of other pencils, mechanical, different lead thicknesses, you name it. This is by far the best I have used for my purpose. The lines are just large enough to be seen easily, but still small enough to be very precise. The lead is very durable, normally with mechanical pencils I have to get the carpentry ones with huge lead In them to keep from just breaking all the time. They are imprecise and the holders are not very nice either. This holder is very high quality feeling, and so far, I have not broken the lead a singe time. Also, the lines are nice and dark. I know it may be more expensive than some pencils you can get, but it's well worth them money. A case of getting what you pay for. I don't think you can buy a better pencil.

I use write in rain products for my job and normal mechanical pencils won't erase. These are great and erase with ease. Can't use click erasers because it will smear the lead all over. The thiker lead takes getting use too. They have good weight to them and I recommend them to whomever uses write in rain journals. The do exactly as advertised.

As a recovering artist, I’ve been hooked on pencils my whole life but got tired of poor quality pencils breaking all the time. Even in my corporate job, I prefer a pencil. This is a reliable, quality pencil with a substantial feel.

The whole lower of the pencil is brass and I love it. I really needed a reliable pencil that didn't need sharpening and had good erasers for trigonometry. This fulfilled that and came at a great price. I will definitely buy more in the future. Only slight downside is the lead is pretty thick but hey it has never broken on me!

I was off put by the price, but got it because of the large diameter lead it uses. It is aluminum and very rugged not quite as thick as a tactical pen, but much thicker than you expect. I carry this at work and it takes a beating in stride. I'll be getting more of them for sure.

I bought this pencil (and the red pencil lead) after WhiskeyRabbit recommended it on their TikTok and i love it! very smooth lead, writes very soft and erases well.
