ASUS VS197D-P 18.5" WXGA 1366x768 VGA Back-lit LED Monitor, Black

I will start my review by acknowledging that this monitor can not support HD video, but if you are using this for business purposes you generally can get away with this and not even notice. This is because this monitor only comes with a VGA connection, and does not support HDMI cables or DVI cables which deliver HD. Although the monitor does look very nice and crisp, if you need true HD support you should consider paying a little bit extra and get a more full featured device. That being said I am quite please with this monitor. I ordered 6 of these to use on a number of new shipping/receiving computers I purchased and they are great. They deliver nice colors and are very bright. They also sport a small form factor and are quite light. Because these monitors are LED backlit you can rest assured that compared to traditional LED monitors they are even more energy efficient and compared to Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) they are like night and day. I give this five stars because it delivers all I asked for, none of the six monitors I received seemed to have any defects, and considering the price they are asking you get a very nice little monitor.

I recently bought this monitor for my grandmother, who was upgrading from a 17" CRT. Needless to say, the VS197D-P is a breathe of fresh air. I am surprised by how brilliant and deep the colors appear for the price of the monitor. High definition video looks as crisp as it would on any other HD display and the settings are simple enough to adjust. It is not an extravegant monitor by any means, but it will certainly suffice for the casual user. In my opinion, the VS197D-P is an excellent buy for anyone looking for a good deal on price and quality.

I bought this as a second monitor for my desktop PC. It works pretty well for that, and was very inexpensive. The only thing I don't like is: I do ham radio, and when I transmit, I get a light herringbone pattern across the screen, even after applying ferrite cores to the VGA and power cables. I do not get this on my other monitor.So it's a good monitor but it's RFI rejection leaves something to be desired.

I bought this for 2 specific reasons. I needed exactly this size or smaller to fit into an old computer hutch, and to work with an older basic refurbished system I bought for simple internet access. This is $79! I'm not sure why anyone would expect a $79 monitor to work for gaming or a newer model computer. It's not built for the speed or power possible with newer computers or games. For basic internet browsing, Youtube, FaceBook, emails, it's perfect. Downsides - ONLY has a VGA plug. That's not a downside if you are using it with an older computer, because that's all older computers have with onboard graphics and not a video card. - does not come with a power plug. I have a dozen laying around, so that was NP. It DOES come with a VGA cable, which is convenient, since few people have VGA cables laying around anymore. The resolution is perfect for my purposes. Higher resolutions make the screen smaller, but I don't think they add anything to the look, and in some cases, will even make your screen blurry if you are using older software. Not a problem with this. With an older and simpler system, this monitor doesn't skip a beat. I bought it to go with a refurbished HP computer, and could not be more pleased with the combo. An entire spare 'desktop' for less than $300! You CAN game, just not fast FPS modern or online games, but if you are playing FB games or minecraft or those types, it's plenty. Youtube videos work fine on it, and you can watch movies as well. I think it's a GREAT deal for $79, and I would definitely buy it again. Hope that helps.

I bought this ASUS monitor to replace my old 17 inch monitor that broke after 5 years. The ASUS is two inches bigger. I love this new monitor. Everything is bigger. It has bright colors and contrast. Everything looks bigger, brighter and clearer. Sometimes it was hard to read the words on my old 17 inch monitor. The ASUS monitor is very easy to install. It is a plug-and-play monitor. And the price was $89.00 with free shipping from Amazon. I didn't want to spend more than $100.00 for a monitor. I am very satisfied with this purchase. I would recommend this brand to other people who want a simple computer monitor for everyday use.

This is a great monitor for those that don't want spend a lot of money but still have a monitor with great visuals. Set up is a breeze and the visual quality is amazing (LED back-lit), crisp, and bright (maybe a little too bright at default setting). Don't listen to Amazon who insist this is a 18 inch when it actually is a 19 inch just to clarify. Recommended.

I love to see my photos on screensaver, so I was very reluctant to get a new monitor. I didn't want my photos to look different. At first they did, until I tried the "Splendid" button, which magically fixed all settings with one touch. It supposedly adapts to each photo automatically. Well my photos look the same on the new Asus monitor, so I'm a happy camper. The main influence on my purchase was the Asus warranty. I recommend this monitor. Oh, I was also looking for smaller size to fit on my desk. Looked at another Asus, this was 1/2 inch smaller display (tho size is same) and $10 cheaper, so I said why not!

I'm quite pissed about only getting a VGA port, as I purchased this for the HDMI port that is listed in the description. Excellent monitor and great price. Sharp and clear. I needed a monitor for a smaller space and it fits perfectly. Company was a little slow getting it shipped but once it was it came here in a couple of days. No big deal on how fast it ships for me. Very happy with the product.

monitor sencillo, solo tiene vga y corriente, 16:9, justo lo que buscaba, se vé bién el video, tiene para ajustar brillo, contraste, etc.. se me hizo buena compra.

Tiene muy buena resolucion a un buen precio.
