This is a great product. It tastes a bit more “sour” than I would like, but otherwise a very good kimchi paste that is very versatile. I add it to all kinds of cooking, just be careful - this is a very spicy paste.

Then we realized we could have it at home too! It's a great condiment, very flavorful, I love it.

Get the 1lb jar. Costs a little more but is worth it! This is as authentic as it gets. No artificial ingredients and tastes just like my grandma’s! Also, the 1lb jar is GF for anyone who has celiac.

While it is my goal to make Kimchi from scratch, using rice flour, Korean spices, garlic, onion, rice wine vinegar, etc. for the Gochujang, I decided to start simple and use this premade paste. Packaging was tight and undamaged. Oddly, it doesn't have the strong smell you'd expect, but WOW does it pack a ton of flavor! I chose the "Hot," because I like spicy Kimchi. I tasted it fresh, prior to fermentation, and it was delicious! I did add about a teaspoon of seat salt for the perfect flavor. Currently waiting 7 days for it to ferment!

I'm not a fan of spicy so this has just the right amount of heat for me...a small kick but not so much that I can't enjoy my meal. At first I wasn't sure what to do with it....bought it for a recipe I was trying...but after tasting it I've been using it in all sorts of dishes for a little extra flavor. I hate using umami but it's true....it's that "not sure what it is" flavor that just makes everything taste better!
