Great results for the price and laser power delivered
This is a solid entry-level UV laser engraver for beginners who want to get into laser engraving without spending a fortune. The LONGER 5W strikes a great balance between affordability, ease of use, and decent engraving quality. Pros: - Good engraver for beginners โ super approachable even if you've never used one before. - Easy setup: took me under an hour from unboxing to first burn. - the 400x400mm workspace is generous and perfect for small to mid-sized projects. - Compatible with Lightburn, which makes design and control smooth. - Engraves wood and acrylic cleanly, and with proper settings can cut through thin plywood. - Come with a free safety goggle, must have to safe laser operation. - Comes with helpful extras: a microSD card, free data cable, and a touchscreen that supports offline use - this is a huge plus if you donโt want to tether it to your computer. - Acceptable noise level: the fan and movement sound are noticeable but not disruptive. I can comfortably run it in my garage. Cons - Doesnโt engrave on metal directly. Youโll need to spray a black coating or use anodized metal. - 5W laser is a bit underpowered for cutting thicker materials or engraving at high speed. Great for hobby use, but not industrial level. As shown in the pics uploaded, it handled detail well - engraving the "LONGER" logo on wood came out clean and crisp. I also decreased the cutting speed and increased power to 100%, and I managed to cut out a plywood and engrave a cartoon cat on the same wood. Great results for the price and laser power delivered. Overall: If you're new to laser engraving and want something affordable but capable, the LONGER 5W is a smart buy. Just know its limits with metal and thick materials.

Excellent Customer Support
Excellent Customer Support - They didn't give up until it worked! I purchased the Longer Ray5 and unfortunately ran into a major issue where the laser stopped emitting light entirely. While a faulty machine is always frustrating, the support team at Longer was absolutely incredible. We went through several troubleshooting steps together. When those didn't work, they first sent me a replacement motherboard. When that didn't solve the issue, they didn't hesitate to send a brand-new laser module. They stayed with me through the whole process until my engraver was back up and running perfectly. The machine is now performing exactly as it should, and I feel confident knowing the company stands behind their product. Check out the attached video to see the Ray5 in action now!

Great Product and Great Support
The learning curve is pretty steep but once you get the hang of it the things you can engrave is almost endless. I contacted Longer customer support twice via email and they got back with me in less that 24 hours and they were very helpful. LightBurn software is pretty well a must have and it takes a bit to learn that as well. Overall, very pleased with the product and support. Update, here are some of the items that I am trying to see what can be burned/etched. (See pics.) Takes a little experimenting to see what speed and percent of power to use. Impressed with all the items it will etch. I also etched Stainless Steel with good success. The main thing I purchased it for was to use on vegetable tanned leather and it is very sharp and crisp. Surprised it did denim as well (use low power for demin). I created the grid pattern on the main board, it is mounted on, with Lightburn. If you donโt need to cut through wood, a 5-Watt laser seems to have plenty of power. I recommend ordering and installing the limit switches if you chose this model. Great new hobby I just found!

A headache from day one
This machine was a headache from the minute I opened to the box. First of all, I was unaware of the facts that it was assembly required. 2 and 1/2 hours and 4 Allen wrenches later I finally got the thing together, only to have it not work because it didn't come with the SD card that it requires. Not only does it require an SD card, it requires an SD card with a low storage capacity, less than 16 gigs. Who has those land around nowadays? Anyway, after a day and a half of talking to tech support I finally got the laser to work, only to have it burn the design unevenly. Ultimately I was left with several pieces of ruined wood and zero completed projects. 0 out of 10 do not recommend

great size for hobbies
I got this as a gift for my hobby person and he loves it - you do have to eventually buy the program but its not too costly. Its a great size, durable and easy to put together and use almost immediately.

Looks really cool
I bet it would be even cooler if it actually worked. A thumbdrive was sent with my package and it had files and videos on there. I looked and saw the files once to confirm they were there, ejected the device (thumb drive) to return later for viewing and all the files were gone. So, assembly was done by using the paper manual - no big deal except I don't know how to use the thing now. The machine moves on the axis as it should but nothing engraves. It has a spot for a microSD card but the machine will not read the files; this is a newly purchased, formatted, SD card - I can view the files on any other device. Sadly I can't get it to work and can't send it back and have no idea who to contact for assistance.

Good starter
(5W) It's fine for the price, but it doesn't do metal etching (unless you use nail polish, and then it's meh), it won't cut through wood of any reasonable thickness, but it is a good starter kit. I used to to make a goodbye wood plaque for a friend and it didn't turn out too bad. Make sure you look up videos on how to use the Lightburn software, and get the laser cutter in a safe stable location where you also have space to connect to a computer or laptop. The assembly was easier than a piece of IKEA furniture (to me). Don't look directly into the light Carolanne, wear the sweet sunglasses.

Very professional machine
This is a very professional engraving machine. First, I recommend watching the installation video instead of just reading the manual. This machine has many parts, and installation would be difficult if you only read the manual. Once installed, it's a very professional and powerful machine. It can engrave very precise patterns on wood at a very fast speed. It comes with software for both Windows and Mac OS. I only tried the Mac software, and everything went smoothly without any problems. After installing the software, you can convert any image into GC format. Then, copy it to a TF card and insert it into the machine for immediate printing. The software also allows you to customize printing parameters such as engraving power and number of times. This is a very comprehensive engraving machine.
