Can't open it!

Could I undo it to open it? Short of breaking the twist and lower part of its body, I just absolutely cannot open it. I am so disappointed as I only opened it today to use it the first time. I even tied an elastic band around the top to have a better hold but it just won't budge! On the 2nd picture, you can see I have almost dented the top from trying to twist it. So where do I go from here?
