This tachometerworks well
So far so good, it works very good for the small engine repair work that I do.

Super easy to use out of the box, really accurate
Did an engine swap and wanted to check engine RPM based on throttle cable. This thing worked great with and without the wire. just held the tachometer nice and close to the spark plug, and gave a clear readout with minor fluctuations.

Very good tach
Bough this tach as a recommendation from Chickanic and I can tell you it’s been a game changer in my shop. My helper thinks its the best thing since sliced bread.

Works well
This was used to tune up a number of chainsaws and a couple of trimmers. I saw this sort of unit used on a YouTube video, was unaware there was anything like it out there. It can be used free standing, holding next to a spark plug or there's a clip-on antenna wire for the spark plug wire, we used that mode since we needed hands free to adjust the carb needles. It has a couple of modes, one for cylinder one on two cycles and 4 cycles and one for cylinder two for same. Cylinder one has the widest rpm range. Had no twin engines to tune, used the first mode and the unit sat on the bench. Managed to rev one chainsaw up to 15K, that's excessive and turned it back to 12K. Started out at 8K and my b-in-l said it was bogging down when at open throttle. Way better than just a calibrated ear. The needle tweak was almost imperceptible. All units drained and hung up for the winter after tuning.Marked down one star for not having a readily replaceable battery. Case is well-screwed shut. Probably soldered down. I can deal with that when the time comes.Has rudimentary instructions with it, those plus YouTube videos are all that's needed to use. This replaces a genuine Echo part number about $50 more and out of stock. There is no case, I used a cheap plastic pencil box from WalMart to store this and the set of carb diddle sticks I got from Amazon. Those are much better than trying to jam a screwdriver into the needle slots, recommended to get, were cheap. Nice having the tools for the job.

Great Tachometer
Looks to be good quality. Item arrived a day early, so fast shipping. Exactly what I wanted for my small engines.

Needed speed and accuracy - got both!
Great tach! I am recently retired and beginning to service small engines to keep busy. This tach is outstanding. Allows me to properly set idle and max speeds on 2 and 4 stroke motors quickly, accurately, and with great reliability! If you're in the market - get this tach!

Likely was already returned.
Unit arrived in smashed box. Open. Unsealed. Instructions folded up like a fortune cookie. The unit was not in the bubble wrap sleeve. The unit was likely returned. Very UN-impressed with the construction and quality of the plastic for the price. I would not be surprised if it does not work correctly, but time will tell when I test it next day. I hope it works and it better for this price and construction.Update. It work fine on one cylinder engine like snow blowerIt did not work well on my old 4cylinder Tractor. The values are too erratic. No matter where induction was used. The induction cable did not work at all.I suspect the unit it not defective as much as it really not suited for 4cyl engines as if it worked with 1cyl the induction must be working. There is also no setting for number of cylinders. So I can see how the unit could get confused as the results would fluctuate indicating sometimes it calculated tractor was single cyl. AKA 1/4 RPM values and then jump back up the realistic idle value.Another update. I decided to order another unit. This one arrived shrink wrapped and was never opened. Now I know for sure the fist unit as a return and broken. This time the induction cable actually works. In testing it works perfectly on single cylinder enginesFor the four cylinder engine. It reads each cylinder perfectly as well but did not detect the engine was a four cylinder even with proper settings at each cylinder. The instruction state induction probe should be positioned near cluster of all cables. I was able to get a realistic reading sporadically of all four detected.I have some additional questions. I sent a message to vendor but no response. I want this to work as I am unable to get a reading off the main pully via optical.

Works well on small engines
Works well on small engines. I used it on a chainsaw to adjust the carburetor.
