Jarred White Asparagus
This is a hard to find item, so I appreciated the availability. I use it mostly in my Vietnamese Asparagus Egg Drop Soup recipe.

The Best Soup!
I have been looking for white asparagus for awhile to make German Spargal soup.

What a great offer!
The asparagus looked delicious in the webpage photo. Unfortunately, the asparagus were mush. Not one spear was recognizable. They had a bad odor, too. Probably because the jar leaked. I'd planned to make a big casserole for a potluck picnic and the pack of six offered on the webpage fit my needs perfectly. Only one jar was sent.

Not as good as fresh grown white asparagus, but...
When you grew up in central Europe, you like white asparagus. When you grew up in Germany, you are ready to stand up and “fight” for your respective local white asparagus farmer. I am flexible but won’t touch the green stuff; it must be fresh white asparagus. The product available at my local supermarkets is from Peru and does not have the unique earthy taste as the white asparagus in Germany or Spain. But it is the next best thing. The Reese product canned in glass jars, also from Peru if I remember correctly, is very tender and tastes “great” when one is dreaming about white asparagus from Europe. I eat it cold with a touch of mayo, one spear at a time … to spread out the enjoyment over several days. I’m assuming there are other ways to make this a gourmet vegetable experience.
