The trail sock I've been looking for
Finally, a trail sock that is lightweight everywhere but around the toes, under the forefoot, and in the heel area, where it's thick and ruggedly woven. Why have bulky fabric in areas that don't bear any weight or encounter friction? All that does is make boots feel cramped while offering no advantage. I've worn these Farm to Feet Damascus socks on a dozen or so hikes so far, and haven't felt any friction in the usual areas typically prone to rubbing and blisters. In addition, there has been zero pilling or evidence of wear. I feel like I'll be able to get a couple of years of heavy use from these. There's a slight trade-off to the ruggedness of these socks, as they're not as soft as some other brands I've worn. I don't think you can beat Fits brand for softness against the skin, but frequent hikers know that there are different aspects to comfort. If you're going to be hiking over rocks and up and down steep terrain for hours, softness won't stop the skin on your heels and the balls of your feet from feeling rubbed and irritated.I do wish that Farm to Feet would sell a full length version of this sock. The 3/4 inch design only extends about an inch and a half above the boot cuff of midcut (6") boots. A taller sock would work well for full height hikers one might wear when trail conditions are slushy or muddy.

Cool!
This is my first pair of wool socks I threw away all my cotton socks, these and DarnTuff hiking socks are all I wear now..... I never thought wearing socks could be a pleasant experience except for when they're fresh out of the package, however these are always nice a new feeling.

Color is WAY off
I see no bright orange stripes like in the listing. Had I known these would just be green socks I would have likely chosen the gray instead. Though comfort and warmth are very important, style is also very important and I chose these based on the style shown on Amazon which is far from accurate. Also what looks like extra insolation on top of the feet is practically flat. Maybe this will poof up when washed.
