Superman & Lois : The Complete Third Season (Blu-ray)
O**C
Excellent Series SHOULD continue for five years minimum and maybe seven
The crime against SUPERMAN and LOIS is that the fourth season (shortened) will be its last. This is a program that has gotten increasingly better over time and the third season was the best yet. While shows like "The Best Housewives of Turnip Creek" get renewed for ten years, quality shows are axed after three or four or even less.Season Three of SUPERMAN and LOIS featured a new actor in the role of Jonathan Kent. With nothing negative to say about Jordan Elsass (the original Jonathan), Michael Bishop brought in more depth to the character, emphasizing a more empathetic approach. The entire regular cast, starting with Elizabeth Tulloch and Tyler Hoechlin, upped their game this season and deserve better. The only part that I was a bit disappointed with (though the number of scenes at the tail end of the season was limited) was Michael Cudlitz as Lex Luther. He plays Luther more as a thug than a scientific genius/master manipulator. In order to avoid spoilers, I will just say that the action in the series did not suffer while the highly emotional aspects of the season could bring tears.Excellent work rewarded with a pink slip.Shame.

Lots of Potential, But Really Drags Things Out
I like the Superman & Lois shows. I think seasons 1 & 2 were particularly great because they had a lot more action and they spent a lot of time showing Jordan's development as one of the most powerful beings in this mythology. But season 3 was honestly kind of a letdown in my opinion. Jordan gets a lot less screen time, and his powers are not focused on much at all. Instead the focus is primarily on Lois and her human issues. I know, I know. Most people like shows that are less action and more feely, and I also know that season 3 of S&L was actually well liked by some large segments of people - but personally I just prefer my super-hero shows to actually be primarily about super-heroes.In some ways I kind of miss the Smallville version of Clark (in spite of how colossally disappointing he was as Superman per Arrowverse's multiverse) - for all his flaws and his ridiculous inability to get over himself for five seconds and assertively tell the truth to people he cared about - he always prioritized helping others over his own wants and relationships (which is one reason the Arrowverse multiverse version makes no sense), and his father and mother both were both very supportive of that. The S&L Clark is much more of a typical house-trained city dad that cares more that his virtually invulnerable son obeys his every command than if he saves lives. I said that poorly - but basically Jordan is the second most powerful being around, and yet he expects him to essentially be same as if were a normal human child. Smallville Clark knew it was his job to help people no matter what, but S&L Clark holds his son back in every way and basically mandates that he follow his way without giving him any room to be his own person on any level.Anyway, like I said, I kind of expect superhero movies to be about the superheroes, and thinking about the story characters and all that is known about them commonly, this makes more sense than focusing on Lois and her frailties. I know the show is supposed to be about her too, and I don't begrudge that, but I do think that Superman and the writers are taking the wrong approach in how Jordan is dealt with. They all try to treat him like he's just an average kid - that can also incidentally fly faster than a bullet and lift a skyscraper. Jordan is far from average, and his pedigree suggests that he isn't likely to live an average human life at all - so stop treating him that way! From the mythos of Superman we know that his lifespan is extremely long - perhaps as long as the sun remains a yellow Dwarf (5 Billion years). Jordan being half human may have a shorter lifespan than his father, but it is shown that while he is an unknown amount weaker than his father he is also less vulnerable to Kryptonite than his father. I would expect that Jordan's mythological lifespan would be very long as well - at least thousands of years, if not millions or more. Lois and probably Jonathan as well will be around for practically a blink of an eye for both Clark and Jordan, and maintaining a strong relationship between them is very important. I just think this show should be doing a better job of including Jordan, developing his progress towards his future, and building the relationship between him and his father - either that or do a spin-off that focuses on that aspect.
