Frustrating build but good result
I got this for my 6 year old daughter, for whom this is recommended for. She has built many Lego sets before so is familiar with the process.Unfortunately she quickly become bored with this build, so it was left to me to finish it.The first thing I noticed that was very annoying was that the bags aren't numbered, nor do the instructions tell you to open a bag when you get to a new phase of the build. So you have to open all the bags in the beginning. Why have a dozen or so bags if there's no sequence to them?! They might as well have been all in one bag. Obviously this slows the process down considerably as you're left sifting through hundreds of tiny pieces instead of just one bag worth. The pieces are much more difficult to snap together than Lego. It hurt my fingers a bit and at some points I broke parts of the build as I had to put too much pressure on.The instructions aren't great and it wasn't clear when you had to rotate the main part in order to work on a different side. There was also no key as to how many studs there are per piece e.g. 8x2, so you had to try to count these which is not as easy as it sounds! The build didn't flow very well either. You'd end up completing a section and then had to squeeze it in somewhere, which risked knocking other sections down. Very clumsy. The worst part was the stairs which remarkably don't attach at the bottom, so they end up just floating, while the top is attached with 2 studs. Very flimsy and easy to come apart. I felt this surely must be a mistake but triple checked the instructions and was right.Overall, it looks pretty good when complete. You wouldn't really appreciate what a pain of a build it was, which for me is more than half the enjoyment of building sets like this. For my daughter though, she just enjoys playing with the finished product. If you prepared for a bit of pain building it, it's possibly a worthwhile purchase. Much cheaper than what a Lego product of this brick count would cost.
