Is the base plate track ready or does it have to be replaced? is this saw the same as the r185ccsx just without the tracks?

This machine would not be track compatible. The R185CCSX is the only saw currently that is track compatible.

I need low rpm steel cutting 40tooth capability to cut .375 mild steel

If your cutting sheets you can use the Evolution but have to cut really slowly.

is there an aftermarket track base plate available for this? i bought it expecting that it was already track-ready (it is not)

There is no after market base available for the R185CCS

How well does the dust collection work?

Depends on your vacuum setup. I use a regular shop vac with a bit of water in the bottom when cutting steel.
