Salt water tested
Worked like a champ in heavy salt water use even after getting pulled off a sand spike into the surf. Bearings held up well and reel worked amazing on a 40lb nurse shark paired with a 10' Big Water Ugly stick. The generic paired reel with the other ugly stick I bought failed miserably in the salt water environment. Definitely worth the money and it was a reasonable price.

Smooth and reliable
This spinning reel feels solid and operates smoothly. The drag system is consistent, and the reeling action is quiet and fluid. Great for both beginners and casual anglers. It’s held up well on multiple trips—definitely worth it for the price.

Very good fishing reel smooth but little bit heavy overall I like it and I recommend it

Solid reel and great value
I received this reel a few days ago and spooled it up with 10 lb braid and 20 lb flurocarbon leader (a lot of sharp oyster beds and toothy fish). I took it to a local pond to test it out and it cast my 3/8 oz paddle tail a mile with very smooth retrieves. Construction seems and feels very solid and balanced when paired with my 7 ft medium fast action rod. Can't wait to take it on my pedal kayak and hopefully catch some inshore fish here in South Carolina - redfish, speckled trout, flounder, sheepshead, etc. I have other KastKing rods and reels which I have used in freshwater and they have performed very well. We'll see how this reel holds up to the inshore saltwater kayak fishing I do in the Low Country...I think it will do its part as long as I maintain it as recommended.

Happy fishing
I bought 1 of these reels and was pleased enough with the build quality and performance that I bought 2 more. My wife uses Shimano reels that cost twice as much . Maybe they are better, maybe they are not. I cannot tell the difference.

Great reel for the budget minded!
I picked this KastKing 4000 reel for saltwater pier fishing in Texas, where I winter. This reel is brand new for me so I decided to give it a try in Lake Ontario before I head to Texas. I spooled it with 30 lb braid and added a 20lb mono leader. Mounted the reel to a 9’ salmon rod a started to throw a ¾ oz spoon for Lake Ontario Salmon. Firstly, I have to say that this reel seems heavier than my same size Vanford but on my 9-foot rod, the weight added to my casting distance. After about 15 minutes I hooked a 15lb King Salmon. This retrieve felt very natural and I was easily able to retrieve the fish after it’s initial run. I kept that drag tight and the reel didn’t disappoint! Considering the price and heavy max drag I would consider buying a second! A great reel for the budget minded.

Smooth and Robust
Everything is frozen right now and haven't been able to get out and fish. But I was looking for a new real that felt strong and not puny in my hands. This reel sure does feel like that. It has a real heft to it and certainly not a dainty toy. Not at all like the cheaper superstore spinning reels you find so often.
