I’m working my way through Patty Lyon’s Knitting Bag of Tricks, and I preordered this workbook because Bag of Tricks has been so helpful. The Workbook is going to talk time to complete, but it’s proving to be just as well-written and engaging as the first. Patty’s blend of humor coupled with thoughtful education is an engaging balance. She has mastered the ability to educate across experience levels. The workbook is neither too basic nor too complex. What I appreciate the most about Patty’s writing is that she teaches concept with application…if you understand the “why”, you can apply the “how” to a variety of situations. If you enjoy knitting, the Workbook will be a treasure; if you haven’t already read “Knitting Bag of Tricks”, make sure you get a copy as well.Sidenote: the construction of the workbook (hardcover on a spiral binding with an elastic band ala-moleskine) is mindful and allows the open workbook to lay flat when reading/in use, and stay closed and protected in a project bag. The construction is representative of the thoughtfulness and thoroughness of the writing within.

Patty Lyons is an excellent teacher and I strongly recommend the workbook and book! Even experienced knitters will learn new tricks and new knitters will learn techniques that will get them off to a great start!

If you love knitting and humor, you need Patty Lyons' Knitting Bag of a Tricks. You will learn so much about your own knitting. Her new workbook is the perfect companion, still full of humor, but full of thoughtful, practical exercises to help you practice her tricks. It's a lovely guide, well planned out, room for notes, and even adorable stickers. I can't wait to knit my way through this workbook!

I am in LOVE with this workbook! I had dabbled in the 1st book a bit, but it seemed incomplete to me. So, that this workbook is it's companion, well - needless to say, it now feels complete! It's like Patty Lyons is right here with me learning! I'm a low budget gal and workshops just aren't affordable for me, so these books are an excellent resource to really get me into the why of knitting!I'm also a learner at the core, so this style is just up my alley too! The creative aspect really makes it mine and not a one size fits all. It may seem like it's one size fits all, but because your own stuff goes into it, you get that much more out of it! I hope that makes sense.I also love how the pages are spiral bound. That makes it lay flat! Who doesn't love that!The stickers are such a cute addition and all for part of the cost - Thanks Patty!Patty, if you read this, I really want to thank you for being brave enough to put yourself out there all that time ago. Leaving your other job to peruse this wonderful past time art - is just courageous! Thank you SO very much for taking that leap of faith to put yourself out there. I am a self taught knitter who has been knitting for almost 20 years. This book helps you see what you’ve been doing when you knit and how to fix it whether it’s knitting technique, why gauge swatch and why it’s been lying to you for 20 years(guilty).The workbook walks you through those things the you tube videos don’t tell you about or when you are sitting at a yarn shop and the person helping you doesn’t know how to explain. Patty tells ya straight up. This workbook is designed to help the knitter no matter how many years you’ve been knitting. Honestly I wish I had this book years ago. 🤣 it’s shown me that I’m also adaptable! That you can teach a knitter new tricks and techniques. It challenges me to pay attention. I need that. This is not a pattern book. It’s workshop on improving your knitting! 😁

I am a huge fan of Patty Lyon's Knitting Bag of Tricks and was so excited to get her latest Workbook, which is fantastic. This book is designed to meet you where you are as a knitter to bring your skills to the next level. Whether you are a relatively new knitter with everything to learn, or are someone who is extremely experienced (and everyone in between), you will find easy to understand instructions, explanations and skill building exercises to make you a better knitter.I'm excited to work through the exercises and add to my skills, which will open up opportunities for me to tackle more complicated patterns with more confidence (and less anxiety). I appreciate Patty's explanations and the workbook-style of this book which adds an element of fun to the learning process. Patty clearly spent a lot of time and energy to create a book that's meant to be user-friendly and will become an often reached for treasured resource.
