I’m really impressed with this filter! It has great water flow and does an excellent job keeping my aquarium water clean and clear. It was easy to set up, runs quietly, and the 400 GPH flow provides plenty of circulation for my tank. The UV feature is a great bonus and gives me extra peace of mind when it comes to maintaining clear, healthy-looking water. Overall, it feels well-made and performs exactly as I hoped. Definitely a great value for the price, and I would recommend it to other aquarium keepers! 🐠💧

It is very effective, I bought it despite a lot of the comments that say it doesn’t last past a year. I’m glad I did the product is rated to last for 6,000 hours. It does suggest turning the light off when the water is clear. This was 6 days and it was completely clean. It is silent and the set up was very easy.

8/7/26 update: Pump finally failed after about 15 months of using it around 10 hours a day (6am to 4pm). UV bulb and filter still good, so I just ordered a whole new assembly to replace the pump. Now I have a spare bulb and filter! This filter has been great at controlling the algae growth. I definitely recommend this for use. Would be great if you could just purchase a replacement pump head. I wanted to wait and see how effective this UV filter was before writing a review. My 10 gallon aquarium always had a very bad problem with algae growth. I could clean it, replace the water but the algae would come back in about 2 weeks just as bad as before. I even had a UV bulb that I had placed in my regular TopFin filter but it didn't seem to work at all. I purchased the TARRARIUM CTUV-H4F (for 10-45 Gallon) UV filter back in April. I put it in and left it on 24/7 for about 2 weeks until I couldn't see any algae in the aquarium at all. I'm pleasantly surprised to say that it's been about 2-1/2 months and I haven't had to turn on the filter again. It's still in the aquarium (just in case), but I'm shocked at how well it worked. The internal foam filter was actually still clean after use. I recommend using this along with a regular aquarium filter. I would highly recommend this UV filter to anyone who has algae problems. I wish I had a before and after picture to show the results, but believe me, it really worked that great! It was really worth the price and now I can spend more time enjoying looking at the aquarium instead of cleaning it.

UPDATE1: I had to do a water change today as it was time and I stopped the filter just like I always do to avoid any issues. I changed out the water and filled the tank back up. Once again the aeration stopped working. I don't understand why it's not working though it is rather frustrating as this was one of the things I wanted. I have to say I'm a little disappointed with this. I got this when my old filter system fell apart. The installation was easy and at first it really was working well and I was happy with it. About a day later my daughters told me that it was "spitting" and I went to look. The aeration wasn't working like it was in the beginning. I couldn't figure out why as I hadn't done anything with it. It was disappointing and I pulled the system out and cleaned it (even though it had only been a day) and put it back together. Luckily it was really quite easy to pull out and clean and get back in. After I re-installed it the aeration still didn't work that well though I was able to get it to work a little. I will say the suction cups on this thing are amazing. They old everything on tight. I do with the unit I got came with a flow director like the larger ones. It does look fine in the tank where I have it and doesn't seem to take away from the rest of the tank. For the money I spent I'm not too disappointed and I'm looking forward to see how it works with the UV light to help clean the tank. It does seem to work pretty well overall.

This UV filter has been a great addition to my aquarium setup. Installation was quick and straightforward, and it started working immediately. Before adding driftwood to the tank, the water was crystal clear and looked like glass. I currently have natural wood in the aquarium, so there is some visible tint from tannins, but that’s coming from the driftwood—not the filter. Even with the tannins present, the water remains clean, healthy, and free of cloudiness. The unit is compact, doesn’t take up much space, and the suction cups hold it securely in place. Water flow is consistent, and the UV sterilization helps reduce green water and other common water clarity issues without requiring constant maintenance.

I bought this for my turtle tank and I have to be honest this was the best I’ve ever seen the tank clear. I wish I would’ve taken a before but I forgot to. But what I can say is as far as being clear it does just that. As far as catching big debris it gets stuck at the back of the filter and doesn’t suck into it which could be a good thing. However the air pump won’t work for me which is a bummer but I have one in there already so I’m not as upset. The filter lets out very fast current so for fish I’d say no don’t get it BUT IF YOU HAVE A TURTLE THIS IS GREAT! And if you struggle with foggy water this is perfect! Just know it is very strong. So after the water clear just turn it off if you have small fish! And purchase a small air pump to have on for your fish.

Does what it’s supposed to do with ease! I had a significant bacterial bloom in my 20g nano reef tank that was getting out of hand. I knew I needed a UV on this system but was on the fence on which one to get. I took a gamble on this, even though I knew it wouldn’t fit in my AIO chambers. HOLY COW! Less than 72 hours after dropping it in the tank and plugging it in, water is Clear! This is not a high quality piece of gear, but it works for its intended purpose and is an extreme bargain over higher end UV systems. If you don’t intend to run UV all the time and need to remedy a current problem, I have no hesitation in recommending this. I have taken mine out for now as I hate having gear in the display area, but I’ll run it from time to time as/if needed

Really excellent. It cleared some stubborn algae from my tank in about a week, and got everything in balance. I am very very happy with it— the current is sometimes a bit strong for my tank (20 gal) but a really great product for the price. The attached photos were taken about a week apart.

Did exactly what I needed it to. The tank went into a bloom while we were away and the house sitter wasn’t knowledgeable enough to deal with it. We got home on a Monday, this was delivered Wednesday and by Saturday with 1 25% water change it was crystal clear again. Now it’s off and ready for the next battle

THIS IS A REMARKABLE FILTER WITH A U-V LIGHT FOR AN AQUARIUM THAT IS HAVING TROUBLE WITH CLOUDY WATER. I WAS HAVING TROUBLE WITH BROWN ALGAE ( WHICH IS NOT A ALGAE AS SUCH ) AND WAS DESPERATE . I HAD TRIED EVERYTHING TO ALLEVIATE THIS PROBLEM SO I DECIDED TO TRY THIS FILTER AND THE RESULT HAS BEEN NOTHING SHORT OF MIRACULOUS. IT TOOK A COUPLE OF WEEKS AND I CLEANED THE FILTER ONCE, BUT NOW THE WATER IS SUPER CLEAR AND MY FISH ARE VERY HAPPY. I HAVE CAT FISH ONLY AND THEY CAN BE MESSY EATERS BUT THIS FILTER DOES A TREMENDOUS JOB. I DO A WATER CHANGE EVERY WEEKEND AND VACUUM THE GRAVEL AND I'M VERY HAPPY WITH THIS PRODUCT. I AM ALSO NOT OVER FEEDING MY FISH . I EVEN NOW HAVE ANOTHER BABY CATFISH WHO IS HAPPILY SWIMMING AROUND IN MY CLEAR TANK ! GREAT PRODUCT .
