A fantastic entry level chromatic harmonica
After playing diatonic harmonica for several years, I wanted to explore chromatic to facilitate playing jazz. While I can overdraw and overblow, it's not quite the same. I found the ergonomics of traditional chromatic harmonicas, particularly the hole spacing and overall size, somewhat awkward after trying a few. The Trochilus, being closer in size to a diatonic, immediately felt more comfortable.I specifically chose the C6 solo tuned model due to its bebop tuning, which modifies the 4th blow from the root to the 7th (C to B in this case). This provides a flat 7th on the blow slide and avoids having adjacent root notes on the 4th and 5th blow. Instead, the root is on the 4th draw slide, which feels more intuitive.Playing the Trochilus feels very similar to playing a diatonic, though the tone has a brass-like quality. The reeds are responsive and easy to bend, the body is air tight and the slide action is smooth. It played perfectly right out of the box without any need for reed adjustments, and its metal construction feels robust. Despite the metal comb, I haven't experienced any teeth clinking, although I have occasionally caught my lip in the slide.Overall, the Trochilus is a highly playable chromatic harmonica that delivers on its promises. I would recommend it to anyone looking to venture into chromatic playing or simply seeking a musically expressive instrument without a high price tag.

Small 10 hole harp with a switch for added fun and great sound. Very very good build quality.
I have a lot (and I mean a lot) of harmonicas.. Tremolo, Diatonic, Chromatic.. interesting spins and edits on reliable platforms from various brands. I play a better diatonic 10 hole than I can with the others but I love the chromatics too. When I saw and heard some of what the Trochilus can do, a diatonic with the slide of a chromatic with the ability to bend and overblow I was floored.. so I picked one up. The blue richter tuned model- in the key of G. My goodness this is a nicely weighted, nicely built, airtight and small enough for a pocket, instrument. A new favorite after playing for just about 1/2 hour. The case it comes with is similar to an eyeglass case, with a soft covering and spring steel 'snap' when you close it. If you enjoy quality sound in a small package, versatility, and good value for your money then I think you might want to give this a try. A Beginner should be able to learn and play this well- holes are of good size and it doesn't require a lot of force to make sound. The comb is plastic but the body is metal and the slide and mouthpiece is metal. Switch works smoothly with a bit of a damper to keep it from clicking.

Easy and Comfortable to Play
I hadn't played a harmonica in a few years and decided to get back into it. Since I didn't know what kind of music I wanted to play, I opted to get an upgraded Marine Band, a Trochilus Solo, a Easttop Performer Chromatic, and an Eastar Admiral Tremelo. After two months of playing again, I think my favorites are the JDR Trochilus and the Eastar Tremelo. Why? They are both easy to play, small and comfortable, and both sound great. The Trochilus easily bends notes and plays like a small diatonic. I never use the Marine Band. I think it's a good introductory harmonica for someone who plays diatonic but wants to learn chromatic. The big Easttop I bought has three octaves and has a very nice midrange sound, but the airflow resistance is not consistent, the holes feel a lot farther apart, and it really takes more effort to play, especially if you are trying to play it quickly. The little Trochilus is just so easy to grab and play well. For the price, I think it's a very good value.

Great idea, great sound Great value
This is a beautifully made, perfectly tuned, and nicely set up for overblows, double Richter slide harmonica in A/Bb. It's airtight and has great tone. The bends work well out of the box. So do the overblows but a little twinking is needed for my personal use. Your mustache will get caught if you don't trim it though.I can't imagine why everyone wouldn't want one

This is a nice harmonica
this is a pretty nice harmonica. It's solid and heavy and the slide feature is really useful. It also comes to a pretty nice case.

Bad taste
Great harmonica but tastes a lot of slide oil. I can't play it without getting this bad taste in my mouth. The richter tuned one I ordered previously didn't have this problem. I'm airing it out so I really hope this helps.

Goodbye windsavers
Love the "solo" harp. I just hope they come out with a 12 hole.
